We all know Microsoft is largely used in the market today because of compatibility issues.. Omit the fact that most softwares are developed for Microsoft, would you go and install Linux on your pc??? I think i would... WHAT ABOUT YOU

I will really switch to linux. i have even installed linux on my laptop removing the genuine windows XP. Windows really sucks. And if a person want to be crazy of linux, he should also be interested in linux programming. And thats what i do. I develop my own softwares for my device drivers and application softwares. so thats it. Now i have all the functionality that a windows laptop has. may be even more than that. what is ur idea about it?

U may feel that java is very strong and easy to use compared to C or C#. but u need to know one thing that from the past 40 years C has been ruling the world. There is no replacement for C. Not even Java is fit to compete with C. Such powerfull is C. Thanks to Dennis richte and ken thompson

I'm affraid to convert to LINUX, i know nothing about it... And most my job in my current knowledge needs Windows to handle them...I program using Delphi, I know there's Kylix but I'm affraid wasting my energy learning new stuff and at the end I don't find a good market for my new learned skill..

Yes I would switch if Linux could handle every software that windows can handle. I've been thinking about setting up a duel boot option on my computer so I can choose between linux or windows when I start the computer. I guess haven't done it because I'm partly scared that I would mess up my computer. I also haven't done it cause I'm lazy. I'd have to back up all of my stuff because everything would be erased when trying to set this up and then i'd have to reinstall all of my programs. It's just too much of a pain for me right now. ~Kythe42 http://lemurianphoenix.blogspot.com

Well if you are talking about things like Open Office instead of Microsoft Office, that's not really going to convince me. I used to use Open Office and I really didn't like it at all. I also tried Gimp for awhile instead of Photoshop and I didn't like that software either. As I said when I get around to it, I will try to set up a duel boot option so I can try linux before I give up windows, but I doubt it's going to happen any time soon. I think linux is more popular with people who are good at computer programming because they can easily customize their computer experience with linux. I'm no good with computer programming though. The only coding I'm good with is html.

I think one of the main problems is that people get used to how certain software is laid out(Ms Office,Photoshop) and they find that they do not want to have to re-learn new software.

I'm am using Ubuntu 6.06 on my Desktop PC and Debian 4.0 Etch on my Pentium 3 Laptop. Its safer and faster than Microsoft windows. Compatibility issues can be solved by using some third party open source applications.

I am using Linux for the past 3 years. I never missed anything by converting my system to Linux from Windows. In fact more and more software vendors are now getting interested in Linux and are trying to port their windows applications to Linux. Not only that there are very good alternative softwares for Linux that we can exploit for daily use.

I have so far tested only Knoppix Live Linux DVD and i'm impressed. It don't need a super ultra mega hi end PC just to run it. I would definitely install linux if i would have a HD space. How long do you think can i earn from myLot enough to buy me a new HD?
