Has anyone read The Grapes of Wrath or Nickel and Dimed?

I read Nickel and Dimed one summer too. I don't think I ever actually finished the book, but the parts that I did read were pretty interesting. I got the book from school and it was recommended that we read it over the summer, but it wasn't required, so I just read parts of it! lol

I read 'The Grapes of Wrath', and I thoroughly enjoyed it. John Steinbeck is one of those writers who doesn't (or didn't, is he still alive?) write about how life should be, but about how life is. Happiness and sadness all intermingled and intertwined, good and evil in the same person. Like most of his novels, just great reading.

I didn't think I would like it very much. I read Of Mice and Men last year and didn't care for it, but this one isn't so bad, very thought-provoking.
He's no longer alive, by the way.

I have read The Grapes of Wrath. It is a fascinating character study as well as an excellent historical novel.
