What is a planned cesarean really like?

I'm going for a planned cesarean in Sept. and I'm super nervous. With my first son, I went through the labor but ended up needing an emergency cesarean so I didn't have time to be nervous. Plus I didn't even feel the spinal block I was given because I had felt all the pain from the labor. But I know I'm gonna feel it now! What was it like for anyone who has had a planned cesarean?

I had the same thing. Things were going good then he got stuck. I was whisked away for an energancy section I was only 19. So with my second I opted for a c-section also I was 21. Less problems for all involved. The spinal block does hurt but only for like 1-2 min max..then your numb! They do there thing and take the baby. I felt I was more awake for my scedualed c-section than the emergancy. When your done and baby is born they will take you to a room to sleep and recover. Then youll see the baby!! Congrats to you and I hope this calms your fears. Have a grat day!!

Thanks for all your responses. It seems like the 2nd time around is a little bit easier. Despite feeling the spinal block. Glad it only lasts a couple of minutes.

My second daughter i had planned C-section. Just from USG, my OBGYN knows that i won't be able go through labor. I don't it's so bad. Maybe somehow after that I feel a lot of gas in my tummy area, but joy from having her really make me forget the pain. Don't worry! Wish you the best and congratulation.:)

It's not so bad, really.
I had a planned Cesarean last June & it wasn't anywhere near as bad as i had expected!
The needle in the arm for the drip thing i didn't feel, the needle in my back to numb the area before they put in the spinal block was only a tiny prick & then once it was numb, i didn't feel the spinal block being put in so it's really nothing to worry about, i promise!
You'll be fine, just don't think about it coz if you do, then you'll stress yourself out, i stressed & then once it was done or being done, i wondered why i was so worried!

I had a somewhat planned c/s with my 2nd. I had a lot of problems with my first delivery and recovery. I had to have physical therapy and all.
I had a planned c/s for March 17 but went into labor and they couldn't stop it on the 5th. She was born fine. The spinal is not the most pleasurable but to not feel them doing the surgery it is okay.
I did get nauseous but said something and every time the guy would come over and put something into my IV so I never actually got sick.
The worst part was because she was early they had a nicu team check her out and I didn't get to see her until she was about 45 minutes old but I was able to try to nurse as soon as I held her. It was wonderful!
I will definitely be having another c/s if I have a 3rd child.
The recovery was less then 2 weeks besides my scar needed to heal some more but I was doing everything myself by then. With my 1st I still could hardly bend over at 3 months without pain.
