how can we tackle overcrowding in prisons?lordfalconer is expected to announe the early release of up to 2000 non-violent inmates, to combat prison overcrowding in england and wales. the justice secretary's statemnet, due in the house of lords, comes as the prison population breakes the 81000 barrier for the first time. it would affect prisoners such as drug dealers, burglars and fraudsters, who are nearing the end of their sentences. could this move threaten public safety? how else can we tackle the problem? shoudl fewer people be sent to jail in the first place? shoudl we build more jails? what are your experiences ofthe prison systems?

Non Violent and victimless crime offenders shouldn't be in prison at all. They should be on house arrest, doing community service and spending a few hours a day in the stocks.
The only reason we have prison overcrowding is because we send people to prison who don't need to be separated from society.
