personally i think salmon rushdie getting a knighthood is very strange, i've actually had the misfortune of browsing through one of his books and i thought the publishers should of put a health warning on it saying if you read this you may get severe headaches and lose your eyesight
either way you will proberbly lose interest in reading altogether, I would like to hear your opinions!
because i stumped to how and why he got a knighthood.........???????

Its an odd choice, knighthoods are usually reserved for people who have contributed a lot to society whether its through charity work or politics or whatever but all i can see that Slamon Rushdie has contributed is to enrage a very large number of muslims around the world.
I've never actually read any of his books but you can usually tell if a writer is successful because they don't get mass protests when he releases a new book.
Seems an odd choice by the government especially considering how poor this countries relationship is with a lot of the middle east at the moment.

Hey thanks for the response,
I agree, very odd,
Have you ever noticed, how odd salmon rushdie looks
his wife doesn't look half bad.
if i was a muslim, I would feel a little insulted
because its like saying, we knight people who write bad, offensive and insulting things about islam.
I think its bad taste on our part (uk),
if his books were positive and inspiring even interesting i would say yeah knight him, I'm all for freedom of speech, but knighting a creep like this is a sad day for all the good writers out here.
