I can honestly add Eragon as one of the great fantasy type genre movies that I love along with Lord of The Rings and Star Wars--but it dawned on me the similarities between these three movies. Now I know, from what I read of Christopher Paolini, the author of Eragon, that he is a fan of Lord of The Rings...and probably Star Wars as well... But did you notice the similarities between these three movies?Such as:1). For some reason I was struck by the similarity between the actor Ed Spellers who plays Eragon and Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker--both grew up with an uncle...and since we have no idea of Eragon father..gee..could he be Galbatorix?? The evil king...just like Darth Vadar turned out to be Luke Skywalker's father?? From the standpoint of LOTR--Eragon could also be viewed like a Frodo...but instead of being a ringbearer...he's a dragonrider 2). Brom's character could be viewed as both an Aragon type and Obi-Wan Kenobi 3). Saphira the dragon, could be viewed almost as a Yoda type?? Much larger scale of course! 4). The Urkals--the equivalent to the Urak-hai or Orcs--even down to the black blood So what do you think? Do you see similarities too? And if so, what are some of the other similarities between these stories do you see?

I love fantasy movies also, pyewacket, but I have not seen Eragon. Now you have whetted my appetite and I must get it. I followed the LOTR series faithfully-moreso than Starwars. Guess I'll have to refresh my memory on that one also.

I don't think you'll regret seeing the Eragon movie then...

Yes they are similar. But I have to say I thought the movie was horrible. It could have been so much better. I haven't read the book and I'm sure it's good for a 15 year old writer. But the movie was a disapointment. Predictable, bad acting on the kids part and the special effects could be have much better. But I digress. There are quite a few similarities

LOL--boo..hiss...sorry I'm a devoted Eragon movie lover...and give the kid a break...LOL--this was his first movie experience from what I understand...even the kids who played in the very first Harry Potter movie weren't academy award material...they've gotten a lot better as the movies have progressed...so maybe the actor who plays Eragon will progress as well

Yes...it's a good movie for kids...some PG or PG-13 movies could be terrifying for kids
