I have a myspace but I only checked in for the first time in about a week today. It is a nice way to stay in touch with your friends and to reconnect with friends you once had that may have moved away or you left behind somewhere. I don't think it's fair to count those sites and say that THEY take over people's lives. Some people just have nothing better to do then sit on a computer on their off time, and if that's what they choose to do, that's what they choose. It's the same for myLot, some people are constantly on here. I think it's more about the people and not at all about the sites, but that's just my two cents!

I'm not saying nothing good comes out of it, but from what I've noticed from family and friends, they sit for hours waiting for a message from someone. In my opinion, it is far more effective to pick up the phone and call, you would get information across ten times faster than by waiting for a message. And I also think that if you're going to stay in touch with your friends, they probably aren't good friends if you only ever talk to them via a website versus in person. Even worse, when you are hanging out with a friend at a house with a computer, all their attention seems to go to a computer, and guess what they're staring oat? Oh surprise, a myspace! Also, it should say something about people when colleges are now using a myspace to determine whether or not a student should be admitted into or expelled from a college or university. Other than sending messages, what else is there to do? People sit for hours just gazing a computer screen and waiting for a message. I just don't see the obsession nor do I understand it.

what's so difficult about picking up the phone and calling someone to have a discussion? or even use aim? probably a lot quicker than sending messages back and forth for hours on end
