Some 50 years earlier, Napoleon Bonaparte, who was not a good sleeper, had advocated 'six hours sleep for a man, seven for a woman and eight for a fool,' reflecting the common view that around seven hours was adequate. There could be a grain of truth in this. At the Sleep Research Laboratory at Loughborough University, in a study involving 400 men and women, aged 20 to 70 years, sleeping at home, found that women generally slept an average of seven-and-a-half hours daily, about 15 minutes longer than men.

I like to sleep as much as i can, but unfortunately, i can't. I've only 5 to 6 hrs to sleep. I study late till night and have to wake up early to get the school bus. In holidays, i sleep up to 10 hours or even more. I think, 8 hours of sleep is adequate.
