New album

Is it true? I think it will be an amazing album if Hammett can make a solo with long melodious sound.

Pretty much what Janga666 said. I too am not a fan of St. Anger, and basically just like their first 5 albums also (though I'll admit there are some good moments on Load/Reload every now and then). I've heard both of their new songs, too (videos have been out on the net for probably a year now), and I'm looking forward to it. Sure, it won't be another MoP, RtL, or anything like that, but it'll sure as hell beat St. Anger and I think it'll set them on the right track.

Well, first of all I'd like to say that I did not like St. Anger in the least. I guess I'm more of an old school Metallica fan (everything up to and including the Black Album). Judging from the two new songs that they have been playing live in recent times, I think the new album will be a bit better than St. Anger, but not even close to the quality of earlier albums. The problem with Metallica is that they try to get involved in fads and what's popular at a time. In recent times (a few years span) guitar solos haven't been as popular as they have been in the past, so Metallica made an album with NO SOLOS at all! Now solos are becoming a little bit more popular so I believe there will be a few on the new album. This type of creativity is counter-productive for a band like Metallica who have been prided in the past as being one of the most original bands out there, and is the main reason they have alienated most of their fans.
