Ok. When i boot up my comp my operation system boots up Xtremly slowly it takes it about 10 minutes just to get on the logon screen and then it takes it about 10 minutes to display my desktop and then i cant do anything on my comp. yes i tried reinstalling the operation system but it didnt work so can anyone help me????

My Mum used to be a computer programmer and she always insists that I have more than one antivirus devices on my laptop. I have zonealarm like you, AVG, and superantispyware. It means it will take an extra minute to do stuff but it is very good. Also defragging sounds like a great idea, something you should do every now and then.

Firstly how old is your computer and do you have any antivirus programs on it?

my computer is about 3 years old its dell optiplex gx260 with avast antivrus and xp home edition

I see where you answerd how old your system is now how much ram is in the system and how big is your hard drive? the size of both will effect how fast your system boots up
