why do people take online flirting so seriously?

id say with the internet you are not looking directly at people so you can be the inside person you want to be, you said when you do go out you are very shy - i dont see know harm init, but the internet is addicting and you could find yourself flirting several times a day, but it may lead to other things..... after all its the internet anything can happen. i dont see the harm in it personally, but know when to stop, as you can get some weird people!!

Hi! I used to flirt a lot online, and no, I don't take it seriously. Its funny though, i met my boyfriend through internet relay chat (mIRC.) We found things in common, and had became friends and when he wooed me, I still didn't take it seriously. Eventually I realized that he really is the person he claims to be, and well..we just celebrated our 4th anniversary.

Well i am not thoese who take online flirtig seriously kind of person yea .... especially in thoese games like maple yea .... it is simply something virtual

online chatting (as well as texting, or sending e-mails) allows you to either hide your real self or express it fully... uhm.. some points that came into my mind: how did you determine that they really liked you or that they really believed you or took you seriously? what if they were just flirting around as well? and they are just pretending that they believed you?...
