Why do we end up to persons who didnt meet our set standards?

I have discovered myself that I always set standards for prospect boyfriend every after I broke up with someone. I always say " Next time I fall in love he should be trustworthy, sincere, more serious, etc etc etc...' But at the end we still end up to the person who we never met our set standards. Bit we stiull love them in return. So, does it mean that setting qualifications and standards for prospect lover is just a waste of time? becasue it will never came true anyway? hmmmm
