I feel musical contests is one thing and making career in music esp. in doing playback singing in films is another. As it is easier to win musical contests where with talent and luck with voting one can emerge a winner. But to become playback singer one has to geta good break in bollywood films sing a hit or superhit song and then once public accepts the singer. He can do musicla shows, sing in films, music videos, th ewholething opens up. As nobody wants to put big money on non established singers. moreover the competition is tough with so many singers trying to make it big. But i remember Sunidhi made her mark by winning one such musical show. Musical show only provides one paltofrm to shwocase one's talent andlater what one does to shape one's career decides how far they will go.

No body in film Industry wants to try new talents and burn their fingers. Music and singing is most important aspect in film making. They try with old talent than the new talent. Luck plays important role for singers to come up.

It's all crap and flash in the pan. Most shows manage to crush any form of creativity and originality that might be sustainable by removing such threats to a cookie cutter show as soon as possible. It's always second string talent that makes it on the shows to begin with...at least here in the US.
