i am 8 weeks postpartum and used to being a size 2 to size 5. i went shopping yesterday to buy my first pair of non-maternity pants and almost fit into a six... they fit everywhere but the waist wouldn't button comfotrtably, so i went up a size. i feel so big at this size. do you consider size 8 to be too big? i'm 5'6".

Lord no a size 8 isn't big! ESPECIALLY at your height! I imagine you were extremely skinny to be a size 2-5 and being 5'6".

i would love to be a size 8 . I wear a size 20. I might be in that area as I have lost 108 pounds in 11 months

I think our sizing is different to there so i dunno but going on your sizes i think a 3-4 is about a 10 here which is what i wear.
I have had 1 guy tell me i was fat & here in Oz the average is about an 8-14 so i think you'd be pretty normal! I'm only 5'6" as well!
I refused to buy maternity pants - sweat pants & PJ pants were so much better & i always wore low rise jeans anyway so my usual size 10 jeans i wore all through my pregnancy & afterwards!
I am however a slightly larger size in jumpers/sweaters now coz my baby fat is taking a long time to go away, i was about a 12 but feel more comfortable in a 14/16 now - nice & loose!
I think you're about normal so don't even worry about it & remember, most companies only make small clothing which makes even the smallest woman feel as though she's fat, it's just how they work - as wrong as it is!

If you think a size eight is too big, then unfortunately you are just a product of how society views women. I am a size eight and I hardly think I'm a big person. I was justing reading an interview with Paulina Porizkova. She said when she was modeling, most models were either a size four or a size six. Now most models are expected to be a size zero or even smaller (a double zero). You may never be a size two again, but look at what you gained in the long run.

I don't think it's big at all.I was a 14 for a long time after I had my daughter. It just takes time to get back to what you had.I wear a six now and people think I'm too skinny.

It doesn't matter what I think. It's what you think that's important. Do you think a size 8 is too big? Size 8 is just fine if you're happy with it. If not, then it's too big and its up to you to do something about it.
If 1,000 people told you that size 8 is just fine, would you be happy?

You are crazy. I have NEVER worn a size 8. Not even in high school. I have always worn from size 10-12. Currently I wear a size 22 and working on getting smaller. If you think you are big then you have not seen me.

Hey astromama, don't worry about it. You sound
just like my wife did. I can sympathize with
you but believe me the weight and your waist
will diminish.
It will either come naturally over time, some
take longer than others, or from taking care of
and eventually soon chasing after the rug rat.
Even I toned up a bit from carrying and tending
to the tot.

You only went from as size two to a size eight? Is that all? I went from a size nine to a size 15. Now I am between size eighteen large and twenty two and a half, depending on the manufacturer and I am solid built not flabby. So wait a few decades or so. Then you will know what big is.

I don't think a sixe 8 is big at all for your heigth. I wish I could get into and 8 again. I was in a size 5 and 7 before I had my daughter. I have never been able to wear that size again after having her. I am 5'4" and I don't want to say what size I have had to go to now. I'm not happy with it at all but I am not heavy set either.

I wouldn't say it's big. But then again I am 5'8" and a size 8. ;) Like you, I can get into a size 6, but that darn button at the waist cinches me a little, so I wear an 8. It sounds like you are doing great for being 8 weeks postpartum. I see no shame in not being able to fit into your pre pregnancy clothing 8 weeks after giving birth. Don't forget, things (like the hips) can shift around while being pregnant, so it's only normal not to be able to fit into your 'old' clothes, especially the pants. :P
