Can breastfeeding make the baby sick, too?

I´m having stomach problems, possibly because of amoebas and I am breastfeeding my one month old. For the past few days, he has had tummy troubles, too and I am wondering if it is actually possible that I passed something to him through my milk?

If you have any kind of bacterial infection, it can be passed on to your child. It's best to check with your son's pediatrician to get more information though. If it's something else that is causing him stomach problems, then he might have some allergies to foods you are eating that contain either lactose or fructose (found in dairy products and in some fruits). Again, you need to discuss this with your son's doctor.

Ok, good to know. I am trying to remember if I have eaten anything different. I don´t usually eat much dairy, but I did eat some cheese and yogurt the other day, so maybe that was it. I hope he isn´t lactose intolerant!

If your sick because of a virus or bacteria--then yea you can pass through milk--but if its just like something you ate, then i'd say no. Have you called your pediatrician to see what you should do?

We don´t have a pediatrician you can call. All the doctors here seem to only work for a couple of hours a day!
