Does anyone have any natural cures for rose parasites. I bought a rose bush last year, it looked great last year. But this year I have a problem, there are a bunch of holes in the foliage. I think it is keeping it from blooming again, which it did early this year. I dead headed the flowers after they started dying. I dont like to use chemicals on any of my plants, and I have read the book on home remedies, nothing in the book is working. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do or use to cure my rose bush.

There are two things you can try. Spraying the leaves with soapy water. And, putting used coffee grinds around the plant. Good luck sugar.

I didn't think about the coffee grounds, something I have alot of (2 pot a day drinker). Thats something my Grandpa used to do. And he had such beautiful rose bushes. Thankyou!

Sounds like it could be aphids. I had that problem once too. Do you see little white flying specks? They are really tiny and I didn't even know they were there until I looked real close.
I was told two things. One, I could buy some lady bugs and put them on my roses. Or two, make a nontoxic pesticide by mixing 1 c. vegetable oil with 1 tbsp. liquid dishwashing soap. Add 1 1/2 tsp. solution per cup of warm water to a handheld spray bottle. Then spray the plant.
I chose two and it did pretty well.
Good luck.

Well, I didn't see anything on the bush. no little critters. I've been having a pincher bug problem this year, I think they might be the little leaf muncher. I know this remedy works great on my veggies in the garden, just never thought about using it on roses.
Thankyou!

Thankyou, I'll check these sites out. I'm getting a little fed up, replacing my rose bushes.

Well, obviously we don't really know what is causing the problem so it makes it hard. What does work is planting chives with your roses. It helps prevent black spot and repels aphids. My next door neighbor tried this and it worked beautifully!

You could try dish soap mixed with water in a spray bottle. I have used it on sever bugs. The bugs do not like it and the plant is fine with it. Trouble is you have to spray them alot! After it rains or after you water. Good luck!
