Myspace is a good place for promote a rock band?

I have discovered a lot of great bands through MySpace Music; having the ability to post your songs and let people listen to them (and have them on their pages) is a great way to get some free publicity. For promotion purposes, sure. It's a way for you to have your music heard by one of the biggest social networks in the world. I know there are a few artists who have blown up thanks to their fan base on Myspace, and I also keep track of bands that I like and other local products that are getting their stuff out internationally. You should definitely try to promote yourselves on myspace. Maybe use it as a site to link to your band's merchandise/CD website. You never know, it's all worth a shot.
