Deadliest fire disaster in the US since 9/11....and the furniture warnings too

On Monday June 18th, nine brave fire fighters lost their lives in Charleston, SC when a furniture store went up in flames. It is the single most deadliest fire disaster since the twin towers caught fire in September of 2001. Charleston has not lost a fire fighter since 1965.
I bring this to your attention for two reasons. So that you may keep the families, friends and the community of Charleston, SC in your thoughts.
And two, to bring forth the harm of furniture. I did not know any of this so I pass it along to you:
That couch you sit on can be a disaster waiting to happen. Upholstered furniture is one of the most flamible items in a house. A couch on fire can engulf an entire room in a matter of seconds. The toxic, black gas in itself is enough to choke. Each year nearly 4,000 americans die in a house fire and one of the leading causes is a cigarette or other hot item (candle, match) dropped on a piece of furniture.
Bless those who save our lives.

I heard about this and it is such a sad story as those men were only there to do a job and that is to protect others and yet they gave their lives. I am praying daily for the families of those 9 brave men! They are true heroes!
I did know that about furniture as we used to own a furniture store.

Yes, those men gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Let me ask you, because I was recently told that most furniture stores, at least the warehouses, don't have sprinkler systems. Is that true? They said if it had one, it would have help to control the fire.

Its a reactive nation as far as regulations go. I am sure there will be a new regulation passed at least in S.C. making it mandatory for fire sprinklers, now, but too late for some.
