Here's a photo of the backsplash we added to our new kitchen. It is stone and we added a decorative design across the middle of it. My husband did this all himself. He's very handy.
If you haven't checked out my new kitchen floor, here is the link to that discussion

Thanks! I really love the way it all came together. It took us forever to find exactly what we wanted.

You have done a beautiful job, and I imagine it makes you feel really proud when you look at it. I am sure that it saves you quite a bit of money to be able to do it yourself. I wonder how you can get this done while running a daycare. Maybe some of the remodel will be deductible. Wouldn't that be sweet.

Yep some of the remodel is deductible on the daycare :) :) The renovations didn't bother my daycare very much because my daycare has it's own separate space. We have a converted garage (yes hubby did that too) and the daycare is there. It's wonderful not to have the kids all throughout my living space.

You know, we always say that we should have gotten into the house flipping business because we love to remodel things. Only problem is that we run out of money to fast! LOL.

He redid our master bathroom a few years ago. Oh and he added a powder room for my daycare. That powder room use to be my laundry room! I still have a hall bathroom that he hasn't touched yet. We've been in our house for 10 years and that hall bathroom is 1 room we've never touched....and it looks like it to LOL

Beautiful job. You did a nice job choosing stone to go with your countertops and cabinets.
He is not just handy, he has some skills. Well done.

Thanks! We had granite counter tops put in. We didn't attempt to do that ourselves, we hired professionals for that. We did put the cabinets in ourselves though.

I am a little envious. I long for a kitchen redo. We will not be doing ANY of it ourselves so it will be a while for us to save up.
I have had the flooring done. Porcelain tile, so nice and easy to clean. I would love granite counter tops.

Nicely done Daycarepal.
It's so gratifying to do-it-yourselves. My Hubby is also a very handy guy. I wouldn't trade him for the world. I'll bet you feel your Hubby is a real 'keeper', too. Especially after the beautiful job you two did on the kitchen remodel.
Enjoy your beautiful new kitchen!

I love the backsplash this is something we are needing to do in our kitchen, but it is so far down the lines of other things needing done that it probably won't be done for at least another year.

Your kitchen is gorgeous! I just responded to the one about the floor, and I was bowled over just by that. But this is some very awesome work. Your husband definitely has a talent there. Ya want to send him my way so he can redo my kitchen? LOL (I love my hubby, but he is just too lazy to do that much work! Hehehehe! Shhhhhh....don't tell him I said that. LOL)

WOW! I looked at both, you guys did a terrific job! I admire the skill it took to do such a good installation, and the patience, too!
We hope to buy a house in the next couple of years. When we do, I hope that we can do something even half this nice in it. Excellent work!

Thank you so much! The backsplash was alot of work. And once it was all in place, we had to go back and grout it all. It was alot but it turned out just how we wanted.

Very, very nice. It look slike a kitchen from the new home models I have been looking at recently. Very nice job. It's good to have a handy hubby isn't it? Mine is handy too, we just don't have a house yet. He doesn't know it yet, so shhhh, but I have many, many plans for him once we are in our own home..LOL.

Once you own your own home, the projects never end! We always seem to be doing something around our house.

We created a photo album of all our before and after pictures. We also take pictures during our projects. It helps us to remember all the hard work we put into each project.

Very nice. Looks like my husband and yours might have some things in common when it comes to these projects. If I could post a pic of mine I would but I can't. I really like our kitchen and our bathroom. We will be starting on our living room next and our bedroom is last. We are also putting a deck in front of our trailer, right in front of our sliding glass doors. Can't wait until it's all done. :)

My husband is working on a big deck in the backyard now, that's his new project. He has it all staked out and dug holes for the footers yesterday.
We have a bathroom that we want to redo soooo bad. But it seems like every other room in the house keeps getting put ahead of the bathroom.
