My 6 year old son wasjust diagnosed with ADHD.He has alot of behavior issues in school but when he is home he does not act the way the teachers at school say he acts,Does anyone else out there have a child ADHD and are confused as I am to the 2 totally different behaviors as at home and school? Is it really just something at school that sets him off? Also I was wondering on other peoples views on Medications for ADHD?My son has already tried 2 different kinds of meds and both of them made him act worse, did this happen to anyone else's child?

I know this discussion is 3 months old and I am surprised that no one on myLot took the time to respond to you. My child does not have ADHD but I have been to a few parent nights at his school where our guest speakers have informed us about it. ADHD is more common in the world than most people realize and not only in chldren. It is sad how many people are unaware of it, as it could make life so much easier for so many people if it wasn't kept like a big secret. I hope there is a good support group in your area. In Iceland they are very active and people with ADHD get a lot of support. People react differently to different medications and it can take a long time to find the right medication for each child/person. There are also so many varieties of ADHD and they need to be diagnosed correctly before it comes to medicaton. I know a child with ADHD who is almost the opposite of your son, he usually behaves rather well at school but is like a monster at home with the family. I hardly believed his mother when she was telling me he had ADHD because he was always like a little angel when I was around. I hope in the 3 months since you wrote this that you and your son have had some help and that his doctors have found medication that works for him.
