When you buy something valuable

Do you have warranty on it ? We all do I`m sure . Remember my friend who bought me a scooter for New Years , well I have only used it maybe fifteen times or so and I was getting groceries with it last week and the thing just quit . I called my BF who came and helped me take it to th Canadian Tire Store for it to be looked at , when the guy told us that Canadian Tire doesn`t fix them and it has to be sent out to be fixed ... OK fine , we left it with them and are still waiting for them to call back about it . Then I asked what about a refund (if I found one better I would use the money for that) Then he said we don`t do refunds , all we do is send it to be fixed . I asked Why they aren`t selling them anymore and he said there are too many problems with them . So I phoned the company who it was bought from and the also won`t refund the money saying its up to the store where it was bought . I called them and they said the same thing . So here I am with no way to get around and they won`t do anything except fix it . What do you think about this , I mean the company could have let their customers know there was a problem and give them a chance to fix it before it breaks , or at least Canadian Tire could have had something in the news for people to know , so they wouldn`t break down somewhere like I did . I can see it breaking down after a year or so but not within the first month ... What would you do ????

Well we hope we get warranties on expensive items, but isn't it always the case about the time you purchase something they stop making it due to certain problems. Back in February my boyfriend took me to go get some glasses after many months of complaining about what I was wearing, so I finally consented and then he picked out my glasses (with my input) on some rimless Ray Bans that were very nice (very expensive) and came with a clip on polarized lenses, they were the most expensive glasses in the store, no sooner did I get them home that they started falling apart in my hands, we would put them together but they would come apart again in a few hours or perhaps a day. When I finally had enough and wanted to go back to the place we purchased it they informed us that my 3 week old glasses were no longer available and they could not fix them, my next task was to pick out some different frames and wait for new frames, I was furious, to begin with I didn't want new glasses and then when I finally get some they stop making them, I was furious, needless to say I picked out some new ones, took my broken ones back home (I am hoping to fix them) and will never shop there again! If I were you I would complain, not to the just the sales person but the headquarters of this company and not to just a secretary but I would send an email or a formal letter to the president and then cc: the Better Business Bureau, usually when you do that it makes people jump for some reason, at least we hope it does!

Its horrible the way they treat their customers , especially those in need . They always take those in need for granted ... Sometimes I wonder how they live with themselves after treating someone they don`t even know so bad ... They are there to make money for the company and thats that... Who cares that you can`t see , or I can`t walk or whatever the case may be ... So sad life is sometimes !!!!

Well I think I would fight for it as they have admitted they do not sell them anymore due to Problems and really they should have done a recall on them So see how you stand on the legal Side on this I know that is what I would do

I had something like happen to me at walmart.i bought a lawnmower from walmart an it broke down one month later.I used it 3 times,so i took it back to walmart an they told me they would not refund my money.i had to ship it somewere to be fixed,at my expence.i call the walmart head quarters.an still the same thing "no refund".so i reported it to the BBB,an they never did get ahold of me..so im affraid you are stuck with a broken scooter.unless you pay for fixing it yourself..these companies always find a way to rip people off.

That is just terrible. Someone should refund the money. Do you have an attorney general? Do you live in Canada or the US? If you live in the US, you can all the attorney generals office in your state and they will take care of it for you. They are great and it is free. I do hope you are not without it too long that is just not right.

Well I am in the states, but I am sure you have similar things..I would contact the better business bureau, and the attorney general's office. THen I write some letters to be sent to the newspapers describing the service (or lack of service) that you get at the store and then tell them if it the problem is not resolved to your satisfaction that you will be sending this to all of the newspapers and local websites. If you have a local tv channel that has a problem buster kind of guy...contact them. Make the problem public, most businesses do not like that.

Though I am not from you country, but nowadays these things are on increase every where in world. Actually they do not provide guarantees, only warranty. And there is big difference between these two words. Warranty is something where manufacturer's wish is the primary if it is to be repaired on damage or get a new one or money refund. Consumers have a very little say when one purchases an expensive material on warranty. It is better to purchase where guarantee is given, may be more costly but you will be sure about the future if it breaks or disorders during the guarantee period. And these shopping marts take a very little responsibility when a product is sold. They just refer to companies and companies to shop and we the consumers are affected. I think a strong rules should be built in this case.

Well thankx for explaining the difference between the two , I never thought about it this way ... I will look into it more and then decide what to do about the matter ...
