"Orkut Banned in India"... will this ever become a real headline?
It can happen as various political groups are preparing a move to make it happen. In India, power still has power and political parties are synonyms for power but surprisingly we are still the largest democracy.
HERE IS MY TAKE ON THE CONTROVERSIAL ISSUE:
1. Orkut is not a site. Its a culture or a concept.Even if someone bans the orkut concept, there will born another instance with greater power.
2. Is there any communication model that doesnt carry cons?. Isnt mobile technology helping terrorists?
3. "The Sainiks vandalized a cyber cafe in Thane". What was that cafe owners mistake? Who wil repay him for the destruction occured?
4. If there are hate groups in orkut, there are bigger love groups as well. Any person reserves his right to love or hate any individual, event or thing.
Please discuss about this......!!!
And spread these words everywhere. We need to do something for this issue.

Orkut banned? I find Orkut very loving indeed. Some nice NRI doctors at "Orkut Hospital" group helped me write down some questions to ask my child's doctor, and they educated the rest of the group how to get general info on similar conditions.
They did offer advice, but within strict limits, (for example, advice, ask your Dr to help with symptom X?yz) and were so very kind to my family.
I thought censorship days in Hindustan would be over. and as for hate on orkut, I have never seen it. Now yaari. . .they could use some charm school, but i have many friends there as well, adn to my knowledge i am the only caucasian on the site. They told me about Orkut and I really like it.
Please tell if there is any way Angela in USA can help save Orkut in india.

Hey good that it didnt get banned in Brazil.....
Hope, if situation rises in India then same would happen here.
But the latest info what i've got is that there is no more discussions goin on in the parliament for banning orkut....atleast for the time being. There are much more important things to do for the corrupt politicians these days. like the president polls and other stuffs
So, atleast for this year, we can enjoy orkutting peacefully.

Yes, it is indeed true that the pressue against orkut is increasing as never before because not only the common people here and there were asking to ban it but the latest to join them is the the political parties which have started to oppose orkut and have even attacked a few browsing centers which were acccessing orkut. we will need to wait and watch whether this will be possible in india.
