Obviously it does depend on what kind of parenting they wish to follow and whether or not the son is capable of making his own decisions. I personally would take the approach of letting him do what he wants but maybe introducing him to the idea of have his hair just styled. There is plently boys can do with some longer hair and wax which can still make them look very styled and clean but keeping it long. There are plenty of hairdressers out there who can do more with a boys hair then a short back and sides and maybe if the wee lad was introduced to this he might develope more of a strong positive opinion about himself and it is all part of growing up after all. But really at the end of the day I think it is up to his parents whether or not they think he is ready for this.
