I was very lucky tonight. Here in Minnesota we had some very severe thunderstorms. There were 60 MPH winds, heavy downpours and up to 3 inch hail. Thats some HUGE hail stones. Anyhow it all missed my area and I got a light sprinkling of rain but some awesome looking clouds like the attatched phot. Just wanted to share my photo is all.

There are many ways to "Get Lucky" and Grandpa Bob you definately "Got Lucky". I'm aware there are some pretty huge hail stones but fortunately I have never seen any as big as three inch stones, that is big. I sure hope after all the time and pride you put into your yard/flowers that nothing like this distroys all your work. Take Care!!!

That has been happening to my area for the past 2 weeks, you hear about the thunderstorms on the news, how bad it is getting and then all the thunder and lightening comes but no rain, it is like preparing for the hurricane that never shows, a blessing it was, just a sprinkle to water that huge garden you are growing, how wonderful!

It's kind of funny. Even if it does rain I will
still go outside later and water all my flowers,
veggies, rasberries and the Apple trees.

Hi Grandpa Bob,
Wow, what an awesome photo. I'm glad that you, your family, and your beautiful gardens are all safe. Too bad it's still humid. We've already had some major storms this year, and tornado threats too ... always scary. The last storms we had (a couple of days ago), broke the heat here. Things are more comfortable at the moment.:)

I had a tornado hit my stree 2 years ago. I only lost a few large branches from my Red Maple tree and no damage otherwise. There were 1200 tress estimated lost on my street alone. Thats in a 5 mile stretch. Here's another cool cloud formation from tonight.

Ours is about 50 feet tall. Maybe 10 feet from the house. I trim the branches as they hang over the roof. The worse thing is it's right in front of out picture window in the living room. These winds right now are scary with that tree blowing around.

Your maple tree being struck, would be 'too close for comfort' for me. We have a huge maple on our front lawn, fairly near the house, and it always makes me nervous, during these types of storms. Thanks for the photo.

I am glad you missed the storm that means your yard is fine. I am glad you did not flood. I hope everything is fine there.
Here in CA we have cooled down to 90 degrees today I am trying not to use the air conditionier until it gets above 100 degrees I hate paying the PG&E.

No funnel clouds or tornados were spotted either. Still going on but it's now about 40 miles SE of me. Hot and muggy is all it is now.

We get very excited when there is a heavy thunderstorm. I think this stems from my childhood. Where I come from there is very little rain, & even less in the way of storms. When we did have storms, it could be dramatic.
The lightening was the most fascinating.
I love to watch hail, but not when I am driving.
Our dogs do not feel the same way as I do about storms!

I was riidng motorcycles with a group from my A.A. club a few years ago and we got stuck in a storm with pea sized hail. Man that stuff hurts like heck driving at 45 MPH.

Man what is it with the storms? I’m in NY and we had a heck of a storm on Tuesday- hail, winds, rain, thunder, and lightning- Even caused a couple of deaths locally- Flooded several areas- Not used to this kind of weather- and I don’t much like it! Does make some nice pictures though!

Well it's 3 hours later and now we have tons of
lightening and thunder going on. No rain yet.
The winds are now gusting at 55MPH.
Love it too!

in singapore and malaysia, some folks have not been so lucky. Well, recently there were at least three separate incidents of people being killed by fallen tree branches. One happened in a nature reserve, another in a forested reservoir, and another in a national park.
There was a storm, lightning, strong wind and the works. Turned out a freak broken branch hit them and they were immediately killed. Very tragic.

We had a neighbor down the road that I don't know
got a small branch blown by heavy winds into his
arm penetrating it, requiring stitches. OWWWW!

My wife and I both enjoy storms.
Especially after really hot days when it calms things down and takes away that sticky feeling. (we had a couple of storms last week here)
Kudos, Thanks for sharing.

We got that same storm two nights ago. We were also suppose to get hail but ended up just getting a fast downpour of rain which lasted for about 5 minutes. I had my camera ready to take some pictures of the hail if we did get it but thankfully we didn't.
