I have refilled my ink cartridge myself. I made a complete mess of my hand and it was dyed for a few days.
It also didn't last as long. I don't think it was worth all the trouble especially having to do it more often. I waste more paper that way.
This last time I just bought the refills.
They do have places to recycle them.
I took a picture of my hand and I cant seem to find it. It was a mess.

My husband, who builds subway trains for a living, says the same thing. It's a serious mess. And he is really good at doing a lot of things, but that resulted the same way as yours did. Yes, there are ways to recycle them and that may make more sense.

I always buy new ones from Staples as they give you a refund of $3.00 for each old cartridge you bring in.

I have a small photoprinter so it is a waste of time to have it refilled. I usually buy the name brand or the equivalent. When I had my larger printer, I had the cartridges refilled as it was much cheaper.

I own an ink refilling business so basically I refill and I would encourage you guys to do the same. Some say it destroyed their printers but it really depends on how you refill your ink cartridge. If you try to refill it yourself, just dont put too much ink because you will end up loosing your cartridge as well since the colors might mix. Purchasing a new ink cartridge costs a lot and I would suggest you purchase remanufactured ones since its almost the same as the brand new and its cheaper.

I have bought the do it yourself ink refill kits. They aren't too terribly difficult to use, but sometimes you can make quite the mess. I have had some success with them, but sometimes if the ink cartridge has been dry for some time, it won't work and I have to buy a new cartridge.

I send mine for recycling. There is a free mailing envelope and you can send them out to be recycled. Not sure what the recycling center does with them, but they must do something because postage isn't cheap. Reminds me, I have some to send out tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder. Take care
