I've just became a member of MyLot today and i've found your question. I wonder why noone responded on it all that time. I don't know if you have already been to Moscow and i'm late with my answer, but nevertheless.
Just wanted to tell, that Russia is a huge country with lot of things to see and many interesting places to visit. Everything depends on your tastes, time you are going to stay in Russia and the desire to see more.
Many people, usually start with Moscow and St. Petersburg (lot of places to visit in these two cities, besides St. Petersburg isn't far from Moscow) at their first visit.
As far as i understood, you are goign to be in Moscow for only a few days, so i don't think you will be able to go far. Try to search the net for "Golden Ring of Moscow", you will come to know about the places which are around the capital. They are easily reachable by car or public transport. There you will find mostly churches and old monastries. But they all worth to be seen, as they are the main Russian culture keepers.
Try to see Sergiev-Posad, it's about 2 hours drive from the center of Moscow, there you will also find a huge churches to visit.
I'm not really sure for how much time you are going to stay in the country and what are your main interests, but nevertheless, Golden Ring is the one main destinations for those tourists who visit Russia first time.
