Don't you just love Kenny Rogers? The singer not the restaurant just so we are clear:P A song by him popped in my head a while ago and then I realized that there is not one song by him that I don't like. I know most of his songs although I do not belong in his generation. Music does transcend time doesn't it?

I haven't heard his music and his songs for years. I have switched to classical, but I always liked country and western because it reminds one of a time a while back. When I think of Kenny Rogers (besides the restaurant) I always remember the song "Lucille" and I wonder why they did not make a movie out of that like they did "The Gambler." I got a tape of most of his music, and really should get them converted to Cd or rather ask my husband to do it.

I agree, I was introduced to his music by my father. He loved Kenny Roger's song so much that the radio was always playing his songs. Thanks for sharing.

I do like some of his songs. My favorite song that he sings is called; DayTime Friends And NightTIme Lovers! I like the tempo and life can be bittersweet like as in the song! Take care Mari_skye.

I also love Kenny Rogers and I especially love his duets with Dolly Parton. I started taking notice of his songs when I was still in high school. Music does transcend time.

Oh yes!!! I do love Kenny Rogers!! I got to go see him in concert on one of my husband's business trips two years ago. It was so exciting! We relly enjoyed it so much. I love to hear him sing. His voice is unique. He has been around a long time and I have enjoyed his music for years and I am not far from his generation but am in the generation of his music.

Wow, that is so cool of you to have watched one of his concerts. My friends and I are joking around that if and when Kenny Rogers visit our country for a concert, we will go and watch it no matter how expensive it is. I so love his songs.

I do agree. But only good music trancends time! The reason why music like Kenny Rogers's trancends time is because firstly you can hear what he is singing. All his songs carry an understandable message. The second thing is that he uses normal instruments in his music which allows others to sing his songs around the campfire or anywhere else. The trend nowadays is to make electronic music that can only be duplicated in a studio and can not be sung on it's own. That is why most music after the 80's just fade away and is never heard of again.
