emails or snail mails?

emails, we can receive the message right away but it more formal to receive a message through a snail mail. which do you prefer more? snail mail or email?

During my college days I used to get handwritten letters from my penfriends from Europe and I loved those letters very much. In fact I used to wait in front of my house for the postman to arrive with a announcement that there are couple of letters for me. That would have simply gladden my heart. I still prefer handwritten mail rather than email shots.
