When you buy meat, do you buy it from a grocery store or butcher?

I love to buy meat at the butcher, but it seems to be so much more expensive. This is a pretty funny story, a few months ago I thought I would buy some steaks from the butcher, the last time I had they were so good they melted in your mouth! so, we went to the butcher and ordered 4 T Bones.. ok talk about price shock, the butcher weighed them and said without blinking an eye " that will be $56.00" We looked at each other, appologized profusely and told the butcher , ummm that's ok.. we went to Albertsons to get our steak, for $30.00 less for the same amount of meat!

I buy mine at the grocery store. I cannot afford butchers prices. I only buy them at all, when there is a sale.

Aren't the butchers a little crazy? I mean, yes the meat is great not good, but for something that is going to take you a few minutes to eat, I can think of other ways to spend my money!

i buy meat from the butcher bcoz in groceries we dont get it.another reason for buying meat fom the butcher is that we eat only special meat from a special shop.
there are people of two religions here-hundu and muslim and both of us eat meat6 differently so there are hindu shops for meat and different muslim shops for meat either.

Now that is interesting, so do I understand you correctly, you have to buy your meat from the butcher because the grocery stores don't carry any? Wow, I don't like grocery shopping to begin with, so that would make it a less pleasant experience if I had to travel around!

We buy our steaks from the angelfood ministries program or we wait until our local store runs a special on whole ny strips. Right now you can buy a whole strip for 3.99 a pound and they slice it for you for free. I love t-bone steaks and they are on the july angelfood menu so we are looking forward to that.

we buy meat from our nearest grocery store. i do not know why but it is also cheaper to buy in the grocery store than buying from our local butcher. i think it is more safer to buy in the grocery store. because we are more sure that what we are buying are cleaner compared to the gross environment that our butchers' have here.

I have rarly brought meat from the butchers. I tend to buy 99% of my meat frozen, normally from Iceland or Tesco's.
I like to decide on the mornig what I want to cook and then get it out of the freezer and defrost it.
If fresh meat is on special offer in Tesco's I tend to buy it and then freeze it.
I think the local butcher is much dearer than the supermarket, I think if I had more money and we didn't live on a strict budget then it would be very good to support the local tradesperson as I think it is a good idea, but my budget sadly doesn't go that far. But I can understand why supermarkets are cheaper than the local tradepersons. I think we should have local tradespersons and it would be very sad if they dissappeared

I have never bought my meat at a butcher I always go to the grocery store. I find that I like neats at certain grocers better then others, my favorite is T Bones I like them because they have a filet on them also. My mouth is watering just thinking about them.
