I usually do.Last night I did not,and I was running a photo slide screen saver, right before I fell asleep, I thought to myself one of the slides didn't stay up for viewing as long as I liked.
All was fine, but then I woke up around three in the morning a the slide I thought about had frozen and had slightly burned itself onto the screen.
Trying Ctrl-Alt-Del didn't work, so I just shutdown, knowing I will have an improper shutdown issue.
When I began my studies on computer use and its functions,
I read in the "upgrade and repairs book for dummies" that it was better to leave the computer on at all times.
The power useage is less than the useage of a Frig.
On and off, on and off, isn't good for the hard drive and the processor.
Times have changed though, maybe it doesn't even matter.
However,I do shutdown at night or when I know I'm going to be out of the house for a long period of time.
Kool,name you have.

I shut down my computer completely, internet connection and all. These consume even when turned off. So I have a plug with a switch that I can turn off. The computer eats up a lot of enery. At least 300 to 400 watts an hour when in use and it is always using some electricity like a TV on standby. That one I shut off, too. One can not complain about high energy bills and not save energy. So I shut off all the appliances which consume while not in use.

I do shut off but don't turn off the power plug and I never use standby, no wonder my electric bill is high.

We shut ours off at night and whenever we will be away for a good length of time. Saves some energy and possibly some wear and tear on the electronics. Resting is normally a good thing so why not for a computer.

as my computer continuously works from the morning to the night and after night i may think of giving some rest to my thing.

I only leave my computer on if I'm in the middle of downloading something, and then I set my alarm to wake up and turn it off. Computers do tend to use alot of power, but mainly its because I live in Thailand and electricity here is not exactly safe (sparks jump every time I plug something in) so risk of fires and things are quite high.
