I tell a lie when I am afraid... afraid of what I don't know, afraid of that other's will think, afraid of what will be found out about me. But every time I tell a lie, the thing i fear grows stronger... ???

It is always better to tell the truth, I have learned people will respect you more when you say the truth even when you make a bad mistake. We all make mistakes, none of us are perfect but when we admit to it we gain peoples respect and we then learn from the mistake and try not to do it again. Check this out, if you always lie and it is not getting you anywhere but in more trouble, try telling the whole truth and you'll see the different reaction you will get. When someone yells at you just tell them - I am sorry, I made a mistake and will not do it again. We are all entitled to make mistakes, even you - right? That should shut them up!

Yes, many people tell lies because they fear the type of response that they will get if they tell the truth, etc, just like you have described. My foster daughter does that, and since realizing that this is what she does I try now to rather speak to her once I am calm and then she will be able to tell me the truth. The thing with stopping telling lies is that you have to build your confidence so that the "thing" that you are feaing will be less dramatic and the more less dramatic events when you don't tell a lie the more your confidence will grown and the fear will diminish.
Good luck, I really hope that you can overcome this fear and that you will rather tell the truth. Lies and more lies is enough to scare anyone.
