Do you have Atenean friends? How do you find them?

As I previously mentioned, out of the 8 in our barkada, 6 went to Ateneo, 1 to UST and me to UP. I was just wondering if any of you feel the same. We always get together at few times a year. Our UST friend seems to have "given" up coming with us and I think I know why.
Lately, I've realized that I've finally lost the drive to meet up with them. It's because I find them boring. All they talk about are Ateneans and gossip about these people. When I ask them about what is going on with their lives, they just brush it aside and say there's nothing important to talk about. I don't know those people that they talk about. They don't talk about their families or their work. The only one who does talk about her life always solicits praise about her "perfect" life. Yes, she is self-absorbed. Frankly, after 17 years of being friends with them, I've finally grown tired.
Is it just me or do most Ateneans behave this way?

honestly speaking, i find them arrogant. i mean, they always talk of gimiks, girls, cars, gadgets, money, event they had, i mean good lord, youre with your other friends from other schools, why cant you just save your conversations until our bonding is over, things like that.

I have the same observation with my friends. Sometimes they forget that they have non-UP friends around. I just think it is courteous that when people get together they try to be as non-exclusive as they can with their conversations.

Maybe, you don't have someone with you whom you can share about UP thing. I have observed the same thing with my former boss and a colleague, although, i have other UP friends in that office, we just found that my Atenean boss and colleague would talk of the jesuit priests and other Ateneo related stuff. :) Much as we would want to share about UP stuff, i guess, the thing is we knew when to handle the pressure of talking UP stuff. :)

It is advisable not to generalize people because of a few people. Just the same, I'm also from U.P. and sad to say, we are also being "judged" by others. Welcome to mylot!
