They all have different features. As far as overall detection goes, particularly in the detection of new threats, Avira AntiVir tops them all; with the exception of WebWasher, which I haven't used yet.
As far updates are concerned, it's Kaspersky. They update hourly, giving you a decent chance of being ready if a new threat finds its way onto your machine. Kaspersky also allows rescue disk creation, a rare feature nowadays. AVG used to have it; they don't anymore. Rescue disks can pull you out of a serious crisis, like if your MBR is destroyed by a virus.
As far as user-friendliness goes, my vote would go to AVG. It's also light on resources. Its scans usually take much longer than others, but that's because full system scans are set to low process priority by default. You can change this, but best to do so when you're not going to be using your computer.

Well I don't care of ratings but I tell u that Kaspaersky is the best antivirus as compared to others. I am using it for last one year and I have no problem regarding to antiovirus. It is capable of detecting all type mallicious programs and viruses and protects ur computer. It security is incredible and the best thing is that it never slows down ur system.

I have Avira Antivir and also mcAfee Stinger and I am happy with this system which is free. I use it with zone alarm and very scarecly had a problem in the last years. I am really happy with the free avira antivir. It gets updated every night.

F-Secure is pretty good. It was one of the first to include rootkit detection, and I believe its anti-rootkit is still one of the best. It's even available as a standalone called BlackLight.
BitDefender is good. Their heuristics are usually among the best at AV-Comparatives. Kaspersky updates faster, though. I haven't used BD in awhile; do they still offer rescue disk creation?
There's also the German product, G-Data AntiVirenKit, which combines the engines of Kaspersky and BitDefender. It also has OutbreakShield, a new innovation. I don't think anyone else has it yet. I understand AVK might be heavy on resources, though. :(
