My poor little cockateil died last night, I am so upset. He was 16 years old. I dont know how he died. He got over an eagle attack through the cage a couple of months ago and then all of a sudden he died. I dont care if anyone reads this I just have to get it out. He was like a little mate and would talk and he was always happy.

Oh calais, my sympathy is extended to you. A pet that has been in the family for so long is very precious, and a family member. Cockateils are a beautiful bird. Maybe you might get another one. You must be a wonderful carer for him to be with you for so long. My friend's son has only last week got a baby white cockateil.
Best wishes to you, and i am sure you will feel better soon. But your memories will live on

I am so sorry sweety - you must be really upset! I'm not sure how old cockateils live to but I am so sorry that he has gone! I do remember him being attacked by an eagle and I think you did really well to keep him going then! Sending you big hugs honey xxxxx

I am so sorry for the loss of your cockatail. My sister has a couple her self and then do tend to have a long life span. I am thinking maybe the eagle attack brought on some kind of heart failure. Once again I am sorry.

Geez sorry to hear about losing your mate, they become part of the family and losing them is defintly hard. It sucks more when you dont see it coming, I hope you feel better soon, 16 years is a long time to have a pet and I imagine he was a character, what did he use to say? If you dont want to talk about it, I understand. :)

wow 16 years old! my girls are 8 I just hope they live another 8 years. We got ours from my brother who had them the first 8 years of their life. Its taking time but they are warming up to us and we would not want better birds. I cant even thing of loosing either one of them. So sorry for your loss we have had the girls for about 2 months now and they are so much a part of the family

I am very sorry about this. We have a cockatiel too, & I know how endearing they are.Perhaps he had some internal problems from the eagle attack, that weren't obvious. Or he was still stressed about it.
At least your cockatiel had 16 years of a good life with you.
