England is to ban smoking in public on the 1st July.
There is a major argument going on about this. Is it stopping peoples freedom to smoke or is it helping the people who do not wish to breate in others smoke?
I am so happy that it is coming in, I am looking forward to walking into a bar or restaurant and not to walk out stinking of someone elses smoke

Does the UK ban on smoking cover outdoor areas or just enclosed public spots? I mean can someone still smoke on the corner, or do they have to go back to their home and smoke inside?
I'm curious. Pittsburgh (the city I am in) had a ban for about 2 days until it was challenged and overturned in court. (Pittsburgh is a VERY litigious town.)
It simply banned in enclosed public areas such as offices and restaurants.

It is enclosed public spaces at the moment. But the government know that people will just stand outside.
They plan to ban that in about 2 years time also.
The fines will be £50 (about $100) for the person who is caught smoking and £1000 (about $2000) for the bar/ restaurant that lets them smoke

I believe it is a good thing. it would help the smokers and people around them. Secondhand smoke is also dangerous and it also endangers the lives of people around and especially children. I think it may also discourage children from smoking if they don't see it so often in public.
