Ok here's my story.... When i start my computer it's very slow with the start up programs i am thinking it's because of my DSL that i use. When i click on task manager and when my no activity comes up thats 100% CPU usage.. I am wondering is there an error or something thats causing that? Or could it simply be something eles in the start up thats making my pc slow?? Any idea's?

There's a number of factors why your pc is slowing down. It could be a virus, a spyware, or a trojan (if this is the case , then you should disinfect your pc by doing a scan.) Like what the others said, try to check for startup items that may have been loading when you boot your windows. Here's a nice little tool to monitor your startup items and see what programs are causing it - http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
Next, is your hardware. You should at least have a 256mb run and a 1Ghz processor to perform a normal PC operation with less slow downs.

i have ran a few scanner on my system everything has come out clean so i know i have no viruses on here.. i did take out easy internet from my start up and noticed it is running alot faster i think that was slowing my computer down some.

Here's another tip, sometimes one cause of slow downs is when a PC has too many junk files on it. I recommend you clean your system and registry by using Crap Cleaner. This is a very decent tool that helps you do the job easily.
You can download it here for free - http://www.ccleaner.com/
and oh, it's best to do a cleanup right after you scanned your PC for possible malware infection.

Well there's a definitely hidden programs (virus, spyware, etc.) running on the background. You might need to try to check your system tray (the icons located on the lower right beside the date and the time) and check if those programs are necessary to for the computer to run smoothly. If you have an antivirus or anti-spyware installed, you may need to update them regularly and run a full system scan immediately. Try to quarantine or eradicate malware that will be detected during the scan. You might also need to uninstall some unwanted programs that might be causing the program to run slow. If all else fails, back-up the most important files on your PC and try to reinstall Windows XP. This will definitely be the last resort but will definitely free your computer from malware that were installed on your computer without you being aware off. I hope this helps. :)

I don't know I think their was a glitch or something in my system startup.. Sense I've made this post things tend to be faster, Maybe i did something some where I'm not really sure or something just wasn't being active at the time of the start up so it would take longer for it to start.. I do have my AVG running and I do have two other anti-virus I do run at least once every few days so that my computer isn't jammed up with spyware. One thing I hate the most is trying to surf the net and getting all those pop-ups. I haven't had any of those problems but than again I don't want to run into them again either. Thanks for the reply and Happy Posting!

you can try to stop some start up services, which are really not required. change these services from automatic startup to manual startup.
Then also get your pc scanned for viruses. There are some viruses which eat up your free memory thus making the pc slow.
