What movie or TV series is most like your life? Or at least similar?

I know we have all probably seen a show and thought, why can't my life be like that?
Well, I don't know why. But I'm sure there is a movie or TV show that is similar to your life or the lives of your family. Have you ever been watching something and thought hey, this could be MY life?! And maybe you have a feeling as if you were privy to a secret no one else knows. But you know that someone has expressed themselves through the medium of television or movies that connects to you.
So what TV show or movie do you feel best represents your life, or maybe a certain time in your life? I'd love to hear everyone's ideas and opinions. : )
*I don't know if this discussion has been done, but sometimes searching for a previous discussion does not turn up similar ones. So if I have repeated a discussion, I apologize. Enjoy!

I can't think of any tv series or movie that is like my life, but back in the 70's there was a show called Mary Hartman that I used to watch with one of my neighbors. We used to think that that we could be in that show, like being one of the neighbors.

My life is most like That Girl. I laugh when I think of it. However, the series included the female main character's father, and in this case, the person is my mother. Least like us would be Green Acres.

I think that the series most similar to my life is good ol' "Roseanne". I have the most smart alecky family in the world. Especially my hubby. I think I am most like Roseanne in that I do what I want, say what I want, and love my kids and husband to pieces, but I won't take any bull from them. Hubby resembles Roseanne's hubby in that he loves to sit on the couch, watch the tv, and smart off at the most inopportune times. Just substitute my family in front of the camera, and we'd be the perfect replacements. LOL

Hello ambie. I really can't say that there is a specific movie or TV series that I can relate to. Maybe a segment or a scenario but not entirely the whole show.
I really never bothered to be observant about the movies or TV shows I'm watching. There's always this thing at the back of my mind thinking that all movies and TV shows are just a fantasy created by human beings.

Yes, most definitely. And sometimes people take these mediums way to far in their own life. But when I was a child I was so depressed that I counted on TV taking me to a fantasy land. Now days though, I much prefer real life to television. : )

For a long time I think one of the movies I identified with a lot was "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood"--in the movie, "Vivi" played by Ellen Burstyn and her daughter "SiddaLee" played by Sandra Bullock have shall we say a turbulent relationship....LOL....that just struck me so much as the relationship between my mother and I wasn't stellar either...There's one line from it too I loved..."I owe all my creativity to my mother...If I had had a happy childhood I'd have nothing to write about" I just wish the ending of our relationship had ended as happily as it did in the movie..it didn''t

I identified with how the mother seemed to be self-descructive. I never treated people like she did, but before I was diagnosed with bipolar, I was on an up and down cycle that hurt people when I didn't even intend it. I didn't feel much sympathy for the mom, I just wish I could have had more of the daughter in me. My own mother is a sweetheart, and I don't think I have lived up to what she deserves as a daughter. Luckily, she has another daughter, and my sister lives up to expectations just fine. LOL

No I saw the movie first, then read the book...both I did find to be excellent--I love the stellar cast in the movie and it was in a way heartwarming too...but like you did identify with it-- identified with SiddaLee, although my mother wasn't quite as bad as Vivi--but my mom was kind of wrapped up in her own world and in a way self-importance as Vivi--how about you?
