Do you smoke in your house? Until quite recently I smoked in my house. After all, it is my house and only my non-smoking husband( who knew I smoked when he married me) and I live here. However, I got sick of hearing from our Dr., the TV, and his kids that I was going to give him cancer from my second hand smoke. Plus there was all that nasty yellow film that stuck to everything. Now, I go out on my front porch to enjoy a cigarette. I do get angry sometimes that I have to sit outside in the middle of the Texas heat and during an occasional winter cold snap. The best result from this annoying inconveinence is that my smoking has been cut back 75%.
So, aside from the fact that smoking is nasty, dirty, and stinks, do you go outside or enjoy your habit in the comfort of your own home?

Neither my husband nor myself smoke and we don't allow smoking in our home. However, my parents smoke and when they bought their brand new house they chose not to smoke in it. The walls, carpet and everything else is white. My mom wanted it that way (I think she's nuts, but she didn't ask me) and she knew that smoking in the house would leave a yellow cast on everything and she didn't want that. My parents both smoke outside. During the winter (they're in Indiana) they go out into the attached garage most of the time but when it's nice they go out on the deck in the backyard.

My husband and I both smoke and keep going through spells where we only smoke outside but it never seems to last for more then a couple of months and then we move back indoors again . This time was because my husband didn't want to go out anymore and then gradually I started smoking in the house again but we are moving next week and I would like to try smoking outdoors again when we move .
It isn't good for our children and I would hate to think that somehow I made them sick even if it is years from now and like you said it does cut back on what we smoke because we have to take the time to go outside so when we are watching a show or something and don't want to miss any of it then we have to wait .

I dont smoke at all. I dont have that extremely bad habit. My family environment is such that, no one smokes at any situation. When I was brought up like that, I have that quality within me too.
People say they smoke for calming them down at the times they get mad. I will always just try to calm myself, instead of reacting to that, by some other ways, not by smoking. Smoking is not going to help me out, but it will worsen the body condition more. So dont do that.
Smoking at home is going to affect your family members too. Because one need not be a active smoker to get affected. They will be affected if they are just Passive smokers too..

I take it from your answer you do not smoke in your home. I was not looking for a sernmon, I simply asked if the ppl who do smoke do so in their own homes or not. We know it isn't good for us. It is a habit that is extremely hard to rid yourself from. I also think the media news has brought us the information of second hand smoke being bad. A large number of smokers, myself included, try to be polite smokers and not do it around non-smokers that have issues with it. How I was brought up has nothing to do with where I choose to indulge in my habit.

My husband and I baught a house 6 months ago, and we both smoke in it. It is over a hundred years old, and all the preveous residents had taken anything fresh out of it, so I don't think it will hurt.
Hopefully in a year or so, we want to remodel it, after that we will probably smoke outside. If it actually will help us cut back that would be nice too!

My mother used to smoke indoors (doesn't smoke anymore) and we all HATED it! It would stink up the kitchen/car etc, and we all used to inhale it, I would even wake up sometimes with the taste of smoke in my mouth as my lungs were clearing it out!
I never ever wanna start smoking and if I did, I would never smoke around non-smokers because it's not fair on them. There's a smoking ban on public places over here and it's great..:)

Growing up my brother and i complained about my mom smoking in the apartment. She did it until she bought her house and decided not to smoke inside anymore. Our complaining didnt stop her. Now that I live on my own i decided not to smoke inside. Occasionally we break that rule if we have company over and we are playing card, or drinking. Other than that, a smoke free home is just more enjoyable. I smell like smoke enough from smoking in general. I dont want my cloths to smell like smoke before i even put them on.

Just before my daughter was born both my husband and I quit. Best thing we ever did. About 3 years ago we watched his mother die of lung cancer and it freaked me out. She was gasping for air. She felt like she was suffocating. Turned us all off of smoking. I think now a days we know more of the harm from it that it would be smart to quit. Having said that we did use to smoke in our house but now I can't stand the smell of it. My daughter has a friend and her parents smoke in the house. When she comes over you can smell it off of her right away. It's just awful.

I don't smoke but my hubby smokes. And I knew that he smoked when we got together. We live in a trailer and if he wasn't smoking outside then I would deffinatly make him. We just had a trailer 6 away from us get destroyed by fire on Wednesday so that sealed my decision that he won't be smoking in any place that we live in. I told him that I would stop complaining about his smoking if he would just smoke outside and not in the house where I have to smell it all of the time.

I rent an apartment with my friend and his sister. They are both asthmatics and non smokers.
I smoke inside the house, only if they are a few feet away, inside their room, or completely out of the house. I can't help it, I can't go out to smoke because it would disturb more people than them. I've asked them about this arrangement and they don't mind.

If u can't smoke in ur house, then where could you? So i smoke in my house. If ur family complain about it,maybe choose a corner for yourself where they will not be offended?
