My favorite book of all time has got to be Flowers in the Attic, by Virginia Andrews. I don't know why, but it gripped me so much and I have read it over and over since I first read it at the age of 14. I love to read and have read hundreds of other books since (I'm studying English literature...), but none seem to compare. I'm reading 'A Piece of Cake' by Cupcake Brown at the moment, and this is a really good book - a harrowing, tragic story somehow told in a really clever and funny way - I recommend it 9may be a bit of a girly book though!)

I'll have to get myself down the library and get some of those books now! I don't blame you for being unsure about flowers in the attic - it is quite disturbing in parts - if it was a film, I would definitely not be able to watch it, but when it comes to reading, I can pretty much enjoy anything, as I can put my ow visuals to it where and when i want to, I was surprised how much I enjoyed it since I'm such a sensitive soul :o)

I'm not sure if you'd like all the books I like or not, but I have quite the list on my myspace page: www.myspace.com/trypsoul3 . Feel free to peruse my books that I've read on the left hand side. Oddly enough, the strongest recommendations I can make to any adults are the Sandman Comics by Neil Gaiman--they cover such tough, real-life adult themes while emersing the reader in stories that blend the biblical, the mythical, and the historical. Greek, Hebrew, Christian, Norse, and Shakespearean history all blended together in a fantastical world. It's good stuff.

I've seen several of the cinematic translations of John Grisham's work. I should really check out his books. I've heard of Bob Ong, before--what's his work like?

If I get a chance I'll have to check them out. No, I don't like spoilers, so better to leave me in the dark. However, if anyone knows of books that can truly change lives and/or outlooks, then I'm into hearing the details. You mentioned Stephen King--have you read his gunslinger books (the dark tower books)? I thought they were really good. I've got a couple more to read in that series, though...

I think Wolves of the Calla is one book in the dark tower series, but that is the only one I have read so far. I really enjoyed it!

I've not read it. Is this what you'd call a really "deep" book--does it make you think a whole lot? What about it left such a great impression to you?
