Usually a good melody or beat is the first thing I notice. Songs that have a good melody and beat but don't have substantial lyrics... those are fun songs but they burn out quick with me. Songs that have a good melody and good lyrics as well are usually the music that I buy and keep in my CD collection and never get old with me.

I'm kind of strange this way, but I don't seperate the two. To me the song isn't about the lyrics or the melody, it's about the combination of all the instruments, voices, rhytmn and beat. I've noticed most people aren't that way, and that's ok... I've just never understood it.

I am more of a lyrics person myself. I'm a writer, so I really get into the lyrics of a song, and they tend to move me more than the actual melody.

I like the song that has both good melody and lyrics. As when i chilling out i like to listen to music that is great, nice beats, rhythm, nicely sung, has good melody, lyrics. If one wants to dance to song must hjave good beat, rhythm. And if one is relaxing soulful melodious song does the trick. Cheers:)

I Want Both Lyrics And Melody In Songs That I Like.Although Melody Does Attrcat Me Towards Song At First But Afterwords If Lyrics Are Not Good I Discard the Song.
For Me Both Are Equally Important.Although When Listening To Instrumental Songs I Prefer Lsitining the One With Good Melody.
