How many of your are having trouble with your school? We have been having issues for the past 2 years to the point that we are considering removing our son from public school. Our son is having difficulty in reading and they absolutely refuse to change anything in their format to accomodate my son. We are in the process of having an independent educationa evaluation done in the area of reading achievement. But I am not sure how much good that will do us. They are aware that he is having difficulties and choose to do nothing. I have supplied them with resources the talk about best practices in teaching children on the spectrum reading and have given them information about where to go for further training. I have taken the training myself and gone in and tried to relay what I have learned. Each time I was told that they are teaching professionals and this is what they do. We asked them to speak to an expert in this field who is very familiar with our son and instead of using her as a resource the told her her advice was not needed, they were highly trained and received ongoing support in this area (by the way this was a lie, I have on tape the person they claim to receiving the ongoing support from telling me that they don't supply that ongoing support). So I was just wondering if any of you out there had ever dealt with a school that was this difficult and if you had any advice, or if you think we should just throw in the towel and pull him out and educate him at home. Any thoughts?
