Anyone Can Help ME with this?

I was happy when I realized that in less than a month, I saw my star rating went up, to the maximum 10. It doesn't tell much, but at least I know that I am being 'well accepted' in this community. When I signed in to mylot this morning, I saw my blue star and my total posts of 280. I was happy with it *smile*
I tried my best to respond to others. I always give positive rate to the discussions that I viewed, responded and comments that I received. Just trying to help others too as I think they are also doing their best to help me.
But unfortunately tonight, when I signed back to mylot, I found out that my star rating has dropped from 10 to 9. I am having a bright shiny red star instead of blue! It is just a small matter, but I do feel sad. As far as I am concerned, I didn't do anything to make my star rating went down. Did others give me more negative rates than the plus? If yes, why did they do so? Or maybe my responses are not up to the standard of mylot?
I also found out instead of having a total 280 posts, I only have 277 posts left. I don't know what happened to another three posts that I had before! *sad*
So to my friends here, do you think you can help me? Do you know how exactly mylot give the star rating? Does it depend solely on plus minus rate given by other mylot members?
Do you ever encounter a situation like me, where some of your posts just disappeared like that?

I have had my post count decrease once before and i have no idea why. I did not post any offensive comments or anything like that so im guessing its just some kind of problem that is causing problems for mylot to fix as i cant think why they would remove a couple of posts from a couple of users every now and then.
As for the star rating thing, i have no idea. This eight star is the highest i have ever got and to be honest im not bothered whether it goes up or down because it means nothing really. Maybe if Mylot were to introduce a benefit to those 10 rated people it would encourage people to become more active and contribute better quality discussions to mylot.

i got a yellow star on top me! a comel star. my posting gone missing, at once.
i guess because we double posting or maybe with only a few words. or it might be we duplicate the same to others discussion.
about the rating, of course if people rating positive, your raputation will increase and maybe earning will follow increase as well.
but we gotto accept others opinion if they disagree with our point of view.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I feel better now. I don't take it seriously but to be honest, it still makes me feel sad. Well, I don't know why! Maybe when I think that someone out there rated me negatively, and it contributes to my star rating went down; I feel a bit sad.
Never mind. I will improve myself and try to contribute better and quality discussions in future *wink*

I honestly dont think it has anything to do with people rating your responses positive or negative, i just think its something that mylot does based on activity, length of posts and other things.
I think from this discussion we have discovered that there needs to be clarification on:
1. The purpose of the star rating and
2. What effects the rise and fall of the star rating

Hey gr8life. Sorry to hear your star rating and posts are going the wrong way. It will happen, mylot may have deleted some discussions that you posted on in which case your posts amount will decline. You may have gotten negatives on some of your posts as well which would make your rating go down. You are sitting at 94/100 right now which is a 9 star rating but I am sure it won't be long before you up to a 10 again. You may have been borderline so it wouldn't have taken much to have it drop again. Don't be overly concerned about the star rating it will fluctuate as well as the earnings and the posts amount. Just keep on posting and you will see that you will be up to the 10 in no time. Mine dropped for less than a day so you may be there again tomorrow. I know it is frustrating and disappointing to see it drop like that but don't take the rating too seriously. :)

It is good to hear from you. Thanks for the explanation. I won't take it seriously *smile* I just feel that this star rating matter is something to do on how good you are being accepted here. Maybe my definition of this, is wrong. Maybe there are few aspects to consider to get a better star rating. Whatever it is, your advice and explanation really soothe my 'aching' heart! I am back to normal after reading your comment *smile*

I guess u might have responded to the discussion that might have been deleted already which would have cost u decrease in the those 3 posts and even ur star rating,its possible that if some one rates u negatively then u might encounter a decrease in the ratings.

well about the discussions i haven't yet experienced that but the ratings i don't know . .ive been too trying my best to be really friendly . . maybe its just some minor bugs . anyway .. just keep doing what you do .

I wouldn't worry too much about those things it was probably a miscalculation in the first place, the reason your post numbers may have gone down was if they delete someonespost for whatever reason and you have responded to that discussion your tally will go down too but I don't think it upsets your daily responses for the day as far as payment is concerned and the star thing that happenns to most of us even yo have a 9 rating means you are ver well accepted.. we are a friendly bunch in here...just have fun and enjoy :)

I've experienced these things also, I had a time when my ratings went up and down. But I did my best to preserve it, up until now.
There are many reasons why our ratings go down, and mylot has their own explanations about this..
They clean-up discussions and rid those of which they know are not contributive to this site, they also gave some tips on their DO's and DON'Ts through their guidelines. Same thing also goes to your deleted posts, those of which does not meet their guidelines gets deleted and those of which violates their regulations.

Thank you for responding and the info given here. I will definitely read it. I am pretty sure that I didn't violated the rules but I might be those unlucky ones here. Never mind, it's over and I can't do anything. However, I will be more careful in future and will try to give better quality discussions.

Apparently you had a couple of posts deleted. They possibly violated the guidelines in some way. You may have gotten negative ratings which would bring your star rating down. These ratings were likely, but not necessarily on these same posts. As has already been said, these things fluctuate, so just keep posting quality posts and you should be back up to a ten soon.
