Msn has a feature article today about a hair stylist who charges 800 dollars per cut. Now, I'm vain enough to want to look good and will spend the money to do it - but 800 dollars! This hair cut would have to transform not just my hair but my whole life! This would have to be the magic genie of hair cuts! I love for my hair to look fabulous and I have spent gobs of money and time in pursuit of the perfect cut, color and style. Normally, I feel like there is no price too great to pay for a feeling of beauty and confidence - especially for women. I've spent my share on miracle creams and wonderful bras and designer this or that. But what are you hoping for when you spend $800.00 on a monthly hairdo? I just think that if I had excessive amounts of money where price didn't matter, I would have something more substantial and meaningful to do with 800 bucks. What do you think?

Absolutely not considering I don't even pay for a haircut period. I cut my own hair, saves money, saves time, saves a trip. My hair looks fine and suits me well. I'm not worried about coloring it and keeping up with the latest fads only so I can look back later and wonder why I paid so much to look so stupid, nor do I want people to look back, or myself look back and wonder why I was so dumb.

I agree with you. I'm more comfortable cutting my own hair for the same reasons. Plus, I get to style my own hair the way I want it to look like. It's so frustrating paying for a hair cut in an expensive salon then realizing that you don't have the result that you wanted.

Iam one of those people that even if I hadthe money to just throw away I wouldent spend $800 on a hair cut. I would rather spend that money on a vacation not on a dang hair cut that wont last that long. At least with a vacation I can take pictures and buy souvineers, those will last longer than a hair cut.

Yeah, you gotta think that an $800.00 haircut has got to look and feel differently from any other. Still, I think that my expectations would probably be too high. I'm bound to be disappointed. I mean, a 500 dollar purse does the exact same thing that a 20 dollar purse does, right?

I could not spend that much money on a hair cut.Even if i had it like that i probably still couldnt. The most i have spent on my hair is $200 and that is braids. They last for at least 3 months and worth money.

My sister-in-law is a stylist and she does a weave that she charges upwards of 700 dollars for. Like you said though, at least they last for months. I had to learn to braid and weave myself because I couldn't stand paying that much money for a hairstyle. Now, though, I'll pay it just for the convenience of having someone else do it. Oh, by the way, I've never paid my sister-in-law for that particular weave and she's never offered to do it for free! lol

There is absolutely no way i would spend that much money to a hairstylist. I dye my own hair because I don't like the price hike from Ohio to Florida. I've gotten pretty good at that I don't end up with a black ear anymore. I have cut my own hair for years..I sure won't let someone else touch it. I even cut my daughter and sons hair as well.

My husband says that he prefers my natural, unruly 'do because I won't let him touch me when I get home from the salon! And that's just with my 65 dollar splurge. Imagine how far away from me he would have to stay if I actually paid 800 bucks - on second thought, if he found out that I had spent that kind of money on a hair cut, I'D have to move away... to a new house!

No way!
I think 10 bucks for a haircut is a lot already. I am giving them my hair, ok? How much more do you want? :P

I don't like to pay even 40 bucks for a hair cut. I always cut my hair myself. I had short choppy hair for about 7 years or so and I always just cut it myself. Last year when I worked for a radio station I had a makeover and that was the first time in a long time I'd had my hair cut professionally and luckily it was free, from a place who charges typically $60+ for a cut. I had it dyed too but I hated the dye job. After that I decided I wanted to see what it'd be like to grow my hair long again so I haven't had it cut since then!
Anyhow, I'm pretty cheap when it comes to beauty. I don't believe that spending $10 on lipstick as opposed to $5 is going to make it any better. I don't spend tons of money on miracle creams (but maybe when I'm older and will probably need them!) and there's no way I'd EVER spend $800 dollars for a hair cut...or anything that isn't very long lasting!

Never ever! I wouldn't pay 800 dollars for a haircut. I wouldn't pay not even 8 dollars. I don't do my hair on hair stylists, and never would. I only cut the points. (I've got long hair) And if I decided to change my hair, I'd just shave it, maybe jarhead style.

Wow! Do you mean you actually know a hairstylist that charge $800 per cut? Are you kidding me? what! I can't just believe it. It's already the gross monthly income of my mother. I wouldn't spend that kind of money on my hair. Besides, I can just get it for free from my cousin who knows how to cut hair.

Well, you are very lucky to have a cousin that will do your hair for free. My sister-in-law is a very accomplished stylist and one of the first things she made clear to the whole family (including my mother!) is, and I quote, "I do hair for a living, not as a hobby - so don't be expecting me to do anybody's hair for free!" They've been married a dozen years and she has never waivered on that policy! She charges so much for some of her services that some of her clients make payments - I'm not kidding! Of course, you have to be paid in full before she will do your hair but can you imagine - a hairdo so expensive that you have to make payments on it?!

There is no way I could justify spending that kind of money on a haircut. I don't care how good the person is. Heck, I couldn't justify spending that much money on just about anything! I watch What Not To Wear on TLC and about croak when I hear what some of the prices are for the stuff their wearing. Even if it isn't my money I am spending there is no way I could do it.

I know exactly what you mean, lisado. I went to an outlet store and there was a YSL blouse that was on sale for $750.00! For a plain white blouse. Okay, maybe it was made from ancient Egyptian cotton or was worn by Cleopatra or something - I just couldn't grasp the concept. And I agree, even if it wasn't my own money, I would not want an 800 dollar haircut.

I have my sister cut my hair. I am more comfortable letting someone who has somethng invested in me emotionally cut my hair then a stranger. Plus to me it just seems wrong to have to pay for someone to cut off hair, maybe to add extesions, but not to cut it off. I cut my husbands hair for him. If I was going to spend a bunch of money on my hair it would be for products or fancy clips.

Wow that sure is a very expensive haircut! Seriously the haircut has to be a freaking amazing one, but seriously what is a perfect hair cut? I pay $12 for my haircuts! That guy must be making a fortune, that is if he gets any customers. But I mean one customer pays for like 60! haha Must be one of those places that cut the hair of famous movie stars and rich people that don't know where to put their money. They would burn it if it wasn't illegal! lol Rated +.

I think it depends on the hair stylist. For instance, I love what Jonathan Anton does, and if I had the money I would LOVE to be able to walk into his shop, sit in his chair and say "do whatever you want, it's just gotta look good whether I have time to style it or not."
If it's just some random stylist, I have a problem spending more than $30, though.

You know what, according to the article, this guy is self-taught. I don't think he even went to cosmetology school! He might not even have a license! Obviously, he's some sort of prodigy. Personally, there are stylists that I will wait longer to see or tip larger than most - but I gotta draw the line at 800 bucks for just the cut.

800 bucks is too much for a haircut. if i only have the guts to cut my hair then i would be more than willing to just cut my own hair than to pay for 800 bucks. i am really thrift so i won't ever pay that much for my hair. i can have my hair fixed cheaper on a salon but i know that i should just try and try until i find the stylist who can definitely fix my hair the way i want it.

I flinch and close my eyes anytime I have to get my hair cut. It's like I can feel each snip. So, like you, I don't have the guts to cut my own. And while a good stylist is hard to find, I think that we can probably find one for a lot less than 800 dollars a haircut - that's like 80 dollars a snip!
