Father in Law had a nasty shock on Monday. He found that his car had been stolen overnight. My partner was absolutely livid and dragged him round all the local shops and the shopkeepers were very helpful, looking at their CCTV and they managed to find out how many thieves there were, how they got in and the direction in which they went. The police located the car the following day.
I know the police get paid to do a job, but a little bit of legwork on your part can speed things up result in a return of your property.
Even the police said they wouldn't like to try to steal a car from us, it was worse than having a team of private detectives on the trail lololol.

It actually cheered up the shopkeepers who checked their CCTV, firstly because it proved yet again that the things DO work, and secondly because they felt that they were indirectly striking a blow for the underdog which is the British public by assisting. There was a real "feel good" effect all round. By managing to target the area the car had driven towards this speeded up the recovery of the vehicle. They worked on it all day today repairing the door and now it is as good as new but at the moment Father in Law is driving the "spare" car as that one doesn't seem so attractive to thieves.

It is my partner who deserves the credit there. Apparently it was like something out a movie, with people punching the air and shouting "Got them". It certainly brightened up their Monday morning, that's for sure.
It also shows that you can be proactive without being violent and also get the result you would like.

Well, while they committed the crime they kept their faces covered, but when they were waiting at traffic lights just before the event and when one of them sauntered up the street to check what was occurring . . .
gotcha!
