Does your child have a favorite outfit they want to wear all the time?

My son has this mustard yellow Old Navy hockey jersey that he'll wear 24/7 if I let him. It doesn't matter how hot or cold it is outside. Nor does it matter how dirty the shirt is. When I do manage to get it off of him, I have to put it in the washer immediately. If it sits in the hamper, he'll pull it out and put it on. Sometimes it comes out of the washer and he doesn't let me dry it. He wears it wet (fortunately it dries quickly).
How about your kids?

sure everyone has a "favorite outfit", just this morning my mom was complaining about my bother always wearing the same outfit...
i have my own favorite outfit, but none of us is obsessed to that extreme, i think you should talk to your son about it...its rather abnormal...how old is your son by the way? I think maybe you should just throw the shirt away...if you dont mind him ignoring you for a few days =.=
but this problem has to be fixed, or he will be teased about his obsession

My son is only 5 years old. He's also autistic, so I think it might be something about the way the fabric feels that has him so addicted. It could also just be a phase like most kids seem to go through. I've noticed that when that shirt isn't available he opts for similar colors, so it might be a visual thing as well.

in this case, since he is so young, i would say take it easy on him...
maybe make him wear a diff. colour shirt every sunday when you go out to shopping or something...
and move on from there, increasing the time and days of him wearing a different coloured shirt... this might help him stop being too dependent on the yellow shirt and move on slowly
i think this "addiction" as you called it, would gradually go away as he grows up...
however, none of my family members had that problem when they were young...dont stress, everyone is different =P

I just want to rip it to shreds and throw it away LOL he would be most upset if I did that so hears hoping it falls apart quickly!!

As long as it looks good and they look good in it, my sons will wear just about anything.

i guess a child will have their favoutite outfit is because of the pic on it.
it scratches the eye of them. they like to wear it just because they like the picture show on the outfit. if the cartoon they feel no more interesting, they will asking to purchase another outfit. oh!

i think all kids go through a stage where they get attatched to things like items of clothing.
my son is 8 and at the moment he has a thing about wearing only button up shirts, shorts and sandal, even if it's raining!
when he was a little younger, i had trouble getting him to wear new shoes, even when he had nice new pairs to wear, he would always pick the old ones i wanted to throw away!
i think your son will grow out of it, perhaps if you could buy him a couple of tops that are the same, or similar, you could coax him into wearing those while his old one is in the wash.

My daughter has her favorites for sure but she never acts like that with it. Usually she will wear it and then I wash it and its the first thing that she puts on after it makes it back to the drawer. I suppose I wouldn't let her act like this with a piece of clothing, I would take it away until she calmed down a bit about it. Its only clothing...

My daughter went threw this phase a couple years ago. She had a Fairly Odd Parent shirt that was green and blue and a pair of blue sponge bob shorts. They didn't really match that well in the first place although they were made out of the same material, they had the different characters on them. She wore them almost every day over the summer when she was 4. I would wash them at night so they would be clean the next day, or she would wear them dirty! Then the summer she turned 5 I went threw her clothes and was going to throw this outfit away as it was too small, all stained and gross! She threw a fit. It was her favorite outfit for another summer. I would not let her wear it anywhere but home, but she wore it almost every day. At the end of that summer, I threw it!

My five year old has a favorite outfit that she wears almost everyday! It is a back dress with siver(metalic) floral print all around it...lol...I hate but she throws a fit if she doesn't get tp wear it right out of the dryer. I have been told that is is just a phase and she will grow out of in a few months, so I really don't worry about it too much. All kids are different but they all tend to grow up in the pattern so just be patient as he will soon grow out of it soon:)

haha.. wow, he really seems to be attached to it, huh?? My 3 year old son, however, has a thing about his pajamas. It doesn't matter which ones, but he wants to wear it all the time. In the morning, after taking a bath, he wants to wear pajamas. Only when I threaten him that I won't bring him out, will he only change to something else. Sometimes, after a bath and i let him wear something else, he'll wait for me to do the housework, then he'll change himself.. arghhh!

i think it has just become his favorite cause he has less shirts, my son, my daughter i don't know cause i think she is the type of no playing favorites with her shirts or dresses, but maybe my son because of having less shirts he tends to use the one which is more stylish, thanks...
