When you speak of Creation which Creation story are you referring to. There are as many Creation stories as there are religions on this earth. They all give a supernatural reason for what is in fact a natural process. The story of evolution is written in stone and the evidence for it is so overwhelming that any debate about it is just plain silly.

First, one basic. There is no "Theory of Evolution" that I know of. Darwin wrote of the "Theory of Natural Selection". You suffer from the common misunderstanding as to what a theory means in scientific terms. This from the Scientific American may clarify it for you. "1. Evolution is only a theory. It is not a fact or a scientific law. Many people learned in elementary school that a theory falls in the middle of a hierarchy of certainty--above a mere hypothesis but below a law. Scientists do not use the terms that way, however. According to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), a scientific theory is "a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that can incorporate facts, laws, inferences, and tested hypotheses." No amount of validation changes a theory into a law, which is a descriptive generalization about nature. So when scientists talk about the theory of evolution--or the atomic theory or the theory of relativity, for that matter--they are not expressing reservations about its truth. In addition to the theory of evolution, meaning the idea of descent with modification, one may also speak of the fact of evolution. The NAS defines a fact as "an observation that has been repeatedly confirmed and for all practical purposes is accepted as 'true.'" The fossil record and abundant other evidence testify that organisms have evolved through time. Although no one observed those transformations, the indirect evidence is clear, unambiguous and compelling. All sciences frequently rely on indirect evidence. Physicists cannot see subatomic particles directly, for instance, so they verify their existence by watching for telltale tracks that the particles leave in cloud chambers. The absence of direct observation does not make physicists' conclusions less certain." This is a link to the full article. One point that does need to be made is that the story of "Creation" is just that, a story, It is not a theory. http://sciam.com/print_version.cfm?articleID=000D4FEC-7D5B-1D07-8E49809EC588EEDF

that is funny, because last I heard it was still a theory along with the big bang and creationism, do you have a link that says it is a proven fact? I thought it would be world wide news if the creation of the Earth was proven 100% beyond any doubt.

The common denominator that all of those creation stories has in common is that the idea that life was creation.

Why does it have to be either/or? Why not both? Why couldn't God use evolution as a means of creation? Of course, to believe this, one would have to believe that a "day" in Genesis is more than the 24 hours we think of. I don't have a problem with that myself.

Why add a supernatural explanation when we have an excellent one from science. You show that your self when you have to start twisting the definition of a day to fit the story.

well just as it says in the bible suzie to God, a thousand years is like a day and a day a thousand years.

The Bible does say that but if you look at that verse in context, it was not referring to the creation account. Besides the creation account is written in the third person by a person with a 24 hour concept of time. That person is communicating the account to others with a 24 hour concept of time. He further clarifies this concept by stating the morning and the evening were the first day.

I only believe in evolution, actually. It makes the most sense to me and there's so much proof that we as humans did evolve from something. I believe that the world is millions of years old and that dinosaurs did not live together with humans - we wouldn't have survived a single day ;)

Why do you say that man couldn't have existed with dinosaurs and wouldn't have survived a single day?

I do believe more on the Creation than on the Evolution. I am always reading a bible and i certainly believe about the writings. Creation is by definition a divine miracle,an act of God which is outside and above the physical law. He has established in the world. Therefore, scientists who believe in creation do not try to devise theories to explain how God created, for human beings cannot understand how God created. On the other hand, evolutionary scientist say that they are devising theories to explain the evolution of all life and that they are discovering natural processes or mechanisms which can evolve new plants and animals.

The bible is not a science textbook. It is a wonderful book of poetic allegory which tells us much about the nature of man. If there is a God how can he be outside the physical laws which he established. The laws would be rather worthless if he went about willy-nilly braking them. Scientists do not have to devise theories to emplane the origin of man. The answers are written in stone in the fossil record and in our own genome.

It is matter of fact, a person must learn the reality about this universe and should not try to ignore it. I believe that their is magnificent and eternal creater of the universe and i see logic in it. The presence of ions in atmosphere make me contact you ,oxygen in air , petrol beneath, iron ore under crust, uranium radio active, growing of food items , eatables, water cycle, making of man from a sperm, billions of species, solar system, gravity, potential energy, minerals and so on ,is it evolution , no , always miracle, production of milk from grass the cow eats, so pure , no smell, water colorless, odorless, earths magnetism, scientists are only discovering the facts, but things are their always, seeing and observing such a realties i say there is God who sustains life and all so efficiently

I can agree with you. I believe in God as well, and I do not discredit scientists, I just believe differently than their view on how the world was created or started. I dont think to believe in God is to discredit or disbelieve scientific fact. However, Evolution (pertaining to the way the world was started) and creationism are still theories and we can chose which ever we want to believe in and I chose creationism. =) Thank you for your response.

stacy , Islam has given all details about the formation of universe, big bang theory is definitely matching to the quranic verses and when we see all the messages in quran have been proved correct so we do not doubt the big bang theory and it is deemed to be truth and about evolution , it lacks credibility and it is a heap of assumptions and presumptions

I believe in creationism. The number one reason that I do is because evolution has not even been proven as fact. And there are so many holes in the way they explain it.

I agree with that. I think people do not realize that a lot of things they have "proven" have turned out to be wrong...As I said it is still a theory and I too, believe in creationism

My mom told me when I was a teen why couldn't it be a bit of both. God created all life it just took a little longer to get to man then the bible said. You have to remember that when the stories of the bible where being written and told people would not have understood evolution, or millions of years; they would not have believed what they where being told. Now as an evolved society we can understand these things and put them into the right context. I am not say don't believe the bible the bible tells us what God needs us to know but we should try and understand that it is not a black and white guide of everything but stories told in a way that ancient people could understand them.

I believe in evolution and in what the bible teaches. Genesis is true, it reveals deep truths about the nature of man but not about his history. This is how we have understood it in England for a long time. all the best urban

You know last time I posted something here, regarding my views it was trolled on. Thanks for stating the above though. I believe in both sorta, but more evolution. as I think that's more realistic and an example is how we can't combat things while taking medicine :) ~Joey

i believe that evolution came from cretionism.evolution would not exist is there are "nothing".can you see any creature at the moon, absolutely not because god didnt placed any creature on the moon and its not suitable for living.no species is created, there is never evolution happening.

I definitly believe in evolution, and my religious beliefs are based on it. Through my christian learning I have been told the church don't take the creationism no more as a literal theory, but as a poetic methaphore. But also I am not exactly christian, and I have found other religions with Orogenias more in the line of evolution....

I believe in evolution because there is physical and scientific evidence of it in museums, etc. Besides with all the horrible flaws in humanity and the world as a whole, I would not want to believe that someone created and controls everything that goes on beause if that were true, looking at the world as a whole, someof the stuff that goes on, would indicate the the creating God was often very cruel.

well, to correct you on one thing, not all religions believe that God has control over us, I am a christian, the bible tells us that God gave us free will and he doesnt intervene (sp?) in that. So, to say that he has control, would not be believeing what the bible says, We make our own choices, he supplies us with knowledge or ways to get the knowledge and he wants us to choose to come to him, however, he doesnt control our actions. BEing a christian he can influence your actions, but he doesnt control us.
