All the heavyweights were routing for Kevin Pietersen to be the captain of England ODI team, but the cap has fallen on Paul Collingwood's head. What do you think of this choice? Is Collingwood a better choice than KP? Cheers! Ram

Collingwood is not the right choice. Strauss would have been the right choice. He has plenty of experience, both with England and Middlesex. He's got a good cricket brain and is all-round intelligent and liked (from what I can judge). He also understands the nuances of Captaincy and I don't think Collingwood does, much as he is a good player.

But, unfortunately, what seems to have gone against Strauss is his own poor form when he did lead for a short time. Also, the fact that the team did not perform too great during those instances also counted against him. I agree with you that he does have more experience with captaining sides though. Cheers! Ram

collingwood....hmm.. Apart from being a superb fielder,,,,,he is a reliable player nd a good batsman But the point is..... do u think he has those necessary leadership qualities??? personally .. i feel KP wud hav been a better choice...considering the aggression and that leading-from-front qualities....he's the best

I agree. At least from the outside KP seems to be a better choice than Paul Collingwood, but then history has shown that usually it is the dogged performers like Collingwood who make great captains. People like Lloyd, Border etc. were all dogged performers and went on to become great captains. Cheers! Ram
