isnt down such a great word.... we all have our ups and downs in life.. i suppose we are all down in the dumps at one stage or another but at least if we are down because we are cold we can soon sort that out by pulling on the eider down..... and we can cheer ourselves up by going down town. Of course all our Australian cousins are down under (gudday to ya all)..and arent some of them down right rude??? Not all hasten to add...sorry cobbers!! We have pills called uppers and pills called downers..is this down thing associated with being a down and out....why are people called down and outs is it because they are frequently seen down in the city Dumps scavenging for food..i think all they need is a good swift drink..""get it down you"... of course if a long lost friend happens to be down your way then this is a good thing !! And of course if you are a country dweller then having a hoe down is a way to cheer everyone up..but on the other hand if we insult someone arent we putting them down?? Up mon a pedestal down in the dumps .. we seem to love these two acronyms... could we manage our everyday life without our ups and downs.. wouldnt life be boring. well at least down here it would...by the way why is abbreviation such a long word?
