Yesterday as I got my mail, I noticed I had gotten one of those envelopes that is addressed to you with no return address, and that it was from Canada. Out of curiousity, I opened it and found a (gasp) check in the amount of $4885.00! This check was accompanied by a letter from " secretshoppers.ca congratulating me as I had been selected to conduct a secret shop assignment! I was so excited ( not really lol)! To sum it all up in the " company" told me I had to cash the check at my bank and then go to the nearest money gram location at Walmart and wire the sum of $3885.oo to my Aunt Elizabeth Bernat in Winnnipeg Canada, the balance of the check was to cover the money gram fees and my pay for doing as they instructed.
MY GOD!!!!!!!!! Well, I called the local Fbi office, because quite frankly I am sick and tired of thugs taking advantage of innocent people. Of course I never would have fallen for it, it reminded me to much of the internet scams going on, you know the ones.. " help me blah blah with this zillion dollars blah blah". After speaking with the Fbi and putting the information in a safe place in case they need to use it as evidence ( per their instructions) I searched the internet and wasn't too surprised that this is not a new scam, but actually has been going around for awhile ( why am I always the last to know?) So as a tip, don't fall for anything that you get, whether it be email or regular mail, the checks they issue ( obviously) are not worth the paper they are written on, and if you do deposit it at your bank, they will have all the information they need to dip into your savings when ever they get the urge!

That sounds like the old bank scam. I watched the old Dragnet shows, and they had an episode on one of those. I am not surprise that it now comes from Canada. I find that there are so many people here that believe the world and everyone else owes them a living. I think it is a combination of putting down religion and also of people emigrating here from countries where it was okay to cheat others not of their own background and westerners--like from Communist China and former Soviet Union as well as countries where it is okay to cheat if you don't get caught. Many of these are illegals(yes we have them here)because I am sure, at least, I hope our country does not let such ones in deliberately.
