what do you think they saw in you? :)

what do you think other mylot users saw in you for them to request you to be their friend here in mylot?
is it because of your cute avatar? because you responded to their discussion? because of the contents in your response? because you share the same interests? because you come from the same country? because you're a friend of their friends here in mylot? because you receive a lot of responses in your discussions? because you earn a lot in mylot?
what do you think?
have you ever wondered why, or what, is their reason for making you their friend? :)

I doubt it's because of my 'cute' avatar. Because I didn't place any cute faces there. Only my tulips. =)
There are many reasons why people add people as friends. First, maybe they like the way you respond to things. They like the way you think and express yourself and they'd want more topics that involve you.
Another, they might just want to extend their network so that their topics could be seen by more and more people.
Another, they could just be really friendly. But oh well, I don't think this is the case for me, since none of the friends I have on my list have ever messaged me about anything, only purely about myLot.
Well, those are the points I see as the reasons. But I think it's more because of the networking stuff and the need to have more friends to have get more people to read your post.
But if they did add me for my replies. Then that would certainly be well appreciated.
=)

it must be because of your replies. :) well aside from the tulips, of course! :) hehehe
actually, your tulips send a signal of a soft and kind-hearted individual with a touch of a romantic side. :)
i agree, some add a lot of mylot users in their friends' list to increase their network and chances of their discussions being responded. that is why i like seeing responses both from those in my friends' list and those who are not. :)

photos of people are often harder to fathom. hehehe
unlike photos of animals, plants, flowers... they usually are associated with certain traits. :)

'Your tulips send a signal of a soft and kind-hearted individual with a touch of a romantic side .:)'
That's a nice way to describe my tulips. I like it. But don't go anywhere telling them I am that, maybe they'd have mixed reactions. Hahaha..
Anyways, thanks for the description. Kinda makes me proud I put in my tulips as my Avatar.
Hmm.. Now I'm wondering what you'd say if I put my own picture instead. *LOL*

that's an interesting post, myles. i think, initially it was largely due to my photo. but later on, when i have changed my avatar to the current one, ppl mostly go by my responses. this i am sure, some of friends have told me thus. then some have sent request as i am their friend's friend and they want a full circle. lol..
smiles...

your current avatar is an expression in itself. from afar it looks like it's radiating... giving something but not too much... sharing something but not too overwhelming... positive yet not overpowering... strong color yet so sweet. it must be you and your responses... :) -lol-

oh, he's my nephew. he's a walking disaster but when he smiles... he looked so sweet. and i wanted to capture that side of him when he was a baby... so i took this picture. everybody in the family likes this picture of him. most people mistook him for a baby girl before. but he's now 3, and very much a little boy. :)
i kinda like this pic that's why i used it as my avatar. it was at the time i had my new digital camera and was practicing a little so-called photography. :)

Since several people have told me my avatar is kind of creepy with her purple flashing eyes, I don't think that's why they choose me. =p
I think most of the time people choose me because I am nice, or because they think I am intelligent and write well. I often write long involved responses on topics that interest me, and really enjoy talking about both serious and silly topics. So I think overall I just connect well with a lot of different types of people, since I have varied interests. It's kind of funny for me because sometimes I find out that the people I am friends with here are both more and less like me than I suspected, living very different lives but holding many of the same ideals that I do.

Thanks! And here I thought I was just on an ego trip, so it's glad to hear that someone else thinks I post well! =p
I'm glad you like my avatar! I was so excited when I figured out how to animate it! The character is my favorite anime character of all time, and I really like that I can show different sides of her in one avatar. =)

I think mostly its because I have answered one of their discussions, mostly under "discussions with no responses". I somehow attract younger users and not sure why LOL I don't think its because of my sons picture as my avatar either, or else I could be wrong!

well it's no wonder why you attract younger or new users! :) it's nice of you to respond to discussions with no responses. they appreciate you more for that. keep it up. :)

I would hope it is for my personality & wit. And the responses and/or topics I start or give. I know my monkey is beautiful, but I do not want to be known for beauty alone.. LOL. I never really thought about it until now, and now I am wondering. Thanks...lol. I don't know why people request me as their friend. I guess I would have to ask them one by one. That would take some time !!

that would definitely take some time... hahaha
the beauty of the avatars would fade, but the quality of discussions started and responses made get better over time. so i'd vote for your quality posts that reflect your personality and wit. :)

I never figure out. I just notice that most of the people added me after I post response on their discussion or I gave them comment on their posts on my discussion.
For my, i made friend request when I notice the member post a lot of good discussion and I would like to be notified whenever he starts a new discussion.

I don't think my beautiful nature's avatar is the reason i get friendship requests. I feel it has more to do with my responses to their posts or comments i make with likeminded folks on mylot. I feel if one makes quality posts are not offensive and come acros as friendly and nice person fellow mylotians are bound to send you friendship requests atleast that's reason i send friendship requests though it is not often. On 2nd thoughts having good star rating might also help. have a nice day folks:)

i agree, our responses and comments are what other mylot users tend to make us part of their friends' list. liking what we have written, that reflects the person behind each word. :)

I think that I get most of my friend requests on MyLot because of my picture, my responses to discussions, my rating, and the amount of points that I have. I think that it really depends on the person who is adding you as the specific reason, but mainly I think that it's probably my picture.

well, i think the four points you made are good reasons on their own which attracts different sets of people. but i do i agree, people tend to see the avatar first and foremost. :)

i think that mostly i get friend request of those people to whose discussion i reply, especially the new comers, other than them there are many who just like my avatar and so they send a request:) i think there are only few who really liked my discussion so that sent a friend request.:P

I think its because I'm so cute and adorable and funny and nice and cute, and witty, and lovable and cute and great and wonderful and sweet, and good looking and did I mention cute?
Ok now that I'm done trying to convince myself lol I would just say if someone has something in common with me i add them.

I think there are a lot of reasons why I always have requests for friends. In most cases, the main reasons are the replies I make. Maybe they like what I replied that's why they request for my friendship.
Maybe there are also others who like my handsome avatar. Anyway, all those who requested I always granted no rejection guaranteed.

wel, for sure it wasn't your avatar that made mylot users request you to be their mylot friend. :)
true, in mylot, we mostly base it on the discussions and responses that we mutually liked coz somehow those reflect personalities that we may like as a person behind each word we spare in mylot. :)

(correct me if I'm wrong)
There are two possibilities:
1.) I think that people who requested me to be friends with them, probably chose to do so because I was a funny, witty, popular, handsome, smart, athletic, intellectual, and an all around cool guy. You know the kind of guy that everyone wants to sit next to at the lunch table :)
2.) Either that or they looked at my screen name and thought, "Hmmm this guy must talk alot, I must add him as a friend for it is highly likely that he shall respond to a large majority of my discussion topics, thus making more money for me!".
@mylesnarvaez (5451)

funny. :)
for now, i would at least agree with the funny and witty part... the rest, i shall have to find out somewhere in another discussion or something. hahaha
and by the way, there's nothing to correct in your response... there are no wrong answers here. :)

I have always assumed that most of the people that have requested an invite was because I answered to thier discussions because most of the requests I get are after I have responded to discussions they started . There are a few that are new on here and I get request from them but I believe this is because they are not sure how the site works yet and probably feel that the more friends a person has the more money they will make . For whatever reason it is , I don't mind and accept all requests to be friends . You never know when someone will start a good discussion and you don't want to miss out on it and also having a lot of friends does help you out as in you have more individuals seeing discussions you have started .

yes, most of the time it happens that way... when our response to their discussions gets a thumbs up, we'll sure to get plenty of friends' requests.
and yes, there are days that discussions that interest you are hard to come by so we wouldn't like to miss out on them.

I know I request when a response makes me go check a person out. If I find we have interests in common then I will make a friend's request.
I do wonder why some people ask me. But maybe they just request everybody on their friend's lists. I do know that some of them are the best about responding to my discussions!

I sometimes wonder that myself. I have had a bunch of requests from people that don't seem to have any interests in common with me, haven't answered one of my discussions or vice versa. I don't even know how they got my name! I approve them anyway, because I like to get to know new people.
When I request a friend myself, it's usually because I think we share an interest and either they have responded to one of my discussions or I have to theirs.

the same goes for me as well, i only make a request when an interest is shared. for the requests i received, i approved all of them regardless of what's in their profile. but it's good if somehow they are connected by a discussion we both responded or started or thru a common friend in our list. that way, we wouldn't be wondering how and why. :)

Well, I dont know what other myLot users had seen in me by requesting to be their friends. I guess, some mylotters want to add more friends to their list so that more people can participate to their discussions. Anyway, there's no problem for me adding friends who request to be on their list. I also do friend request to certain myLotters when I respond to their discussion and when I see that they are interactive with the discussion and responses that they get. Others dont even get to comment back on the response that a myLotter made.

i think people basically look for others who are active, and make good postings and discussions. I do not have an avatar yet and I have a ton of friends and friend requests. I have found the more active I am, the more friend request I get. The two go hand in hand.
cheers,

well, admittedly, your avatar shows a cute guy (but why do you say it will change soon?)... that is one attraction for some. on the other hand, some would like the way you respond (it reflects the guy in your avatar... in deep thought).
and the third point you made is actually true. the more friends we have in our list, the more likely our discussions will get more responses. i am quite amazed with mylot users having at least a thousand of friends in their list... i don't think i could do that. during my stay in mylot, i must have requested 20 or so in my friends' list, the rest are requests from them.
